Box Office: 'How To Train Your Dragon', 'Ballerina' And 'Materialists' Opening Weekend Collection

Mumbai, June 16 - There were three new Hollywood releases this past weekend at the Indian box office. Despite the competition with Indian titles, all three films, which include "How To Train Your Dragon", "Ballerina", and "Materialists", did decent business in the opening weekend. ## How To Train Your Dragon, which is the live-action remake of the 2010 animated film, was the top Hollywood grosser among all the films. It took a decent opening of an estimated 2.60 crores gross before jumping over the weekend to collect an estimated 12.75 crores gross in 3 days in India in all versions. ## The word of mouth for HTTYD is positive, which should help the movie to continue doing steady business, though the competition will intensify once Aamir Khan's "Sitaare Zameen Par" arrives on June 20. The film will be looking to finish with 30+ crores gross, which is a good result. ## And de Armes' action thriller Ballerina, the spin-off of the John Wick franchise, grossed approximately 8.25 crores in the opening weekend. It is a decent result for the film, given its A-rated content and strong competition. It needs to be seen how the film performs in the coming days, as word of mouth is mixed. ## There is this romantic comedy Materialists, featuring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, which was the biggest gainer in terms of showing growth. A New 'Wonder Woman' Movie Officially In Development

Los Angeles, June 11 - A new feature film about the DC superhero Wonder Woman is officially in development, according to the CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn. The movie would be in addition to an HBO series about Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira. ## During an interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), James Gunn said that they are working on Wonder Woman, which is currently being written. According to Variety, the new film would be a fresh start for the superhero character, and it is unlikely to bring Gal Gadot, who has played Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. ## Gadot has played this iconic character in 2017's "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League," 2020's "Wonder Woman 1984," 2021's "Zack Snyder's Justice League," and in a cameo in 2023's "The Flash." ## There are several DC Films that are said to be in development at the studio, and a few of them have already been greenlit. Mumbai, April 25 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's highly-awaited spy action thriller Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is set to hit the Indian cinemas 6 days earlier than the domestic (North America) release, Paramount India confirmed on Friday. ## The eighth instalment in this long-running franchise has been announced to release in India on May 17 in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages. It will be released in the regular as well as 4dx and IMAX formats, just like the previous films of the franchise. ## Mission: Impossible 8 is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and it is possibly the final movie in this blockbuster series. It is the direct sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and stars Cruise as Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent and leader of a team of operatives alongside Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Vanessa Kirby, among others in key roles.## The previous film, Mission: Impossible 7, was a big hit at the Indian box office with a gross collection of over 130 crores in 2023. Pictures' video game adaptation A Minecraft Movie. ## Starring Jason Momoa, the fantasy adventure comedy film, based on the 2011 video game Minecraft, has shattered records at the domestic (North America) and worldwide box office to score the biggest opening weekend ever for a live-action video game adaptation title. ## Made on a budget of $150 million, Minecraft struck gold with a record-shattering $163 million opening domestically, the biggest for a video game adaptation, beating The Super Mario Bros Movie's $146.4 million. Los Angeles, April 1 - Sony Pictures has confirmed the official title of Marvel's Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland in the titular role at CinemaCon on Monday. ## During Sony Pictures' presentation at CinemaCon, Holland appeared in a video clip to announce that the 4th Spider-Man movie, led by him, is titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day and it is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.## The movie will be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, and the filmmaker promised "a ride that we haven't really seen before" with this upcoming film. Marvel Studios Announces Cast of 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Los Angeles, March 27 - The Avengers have assembled once again, 6 years after Avengers Endgame emerged as one of the biggest grossers in history, as the filming of Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday has begun. ## On Wednesday, Marvel Studios surprised everyone when it announced the cast of the upcoming film during a nearly five-and-a-half-hour live stream. The cast of Doomsday has some surprising names, consisting of a mix of Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstays as well as actors from 20th Century Fox's now-defunct X-Men universe and upcoming stars of Fantastic Four: First Steps. ## The studio announced 26 actors who would feature in the upcoming film, and among the returning cast members from Endgame are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M'Baku. Warner Bros. 'Dune Part 2' To Re-Release In India And 'Interstellar' To Also Return; Date Announced

Mumbai, March 10 - Warner Bros. Pictures has announced the re-release of Academy Award-winning film Dune: Part 2 in India. The Denis Villeneuve's directorial sci-fi epic won the Best Sound and the Best Visual Effects Oscars at the 97th Academy Awards held recently. ## On Monday (March 10), the studio took to social media to announce that Dune 2 will re-release in Indian cinemas on March 14, also in IMAX. It will be a limited release for only 7 days, just like the studio's recently re-release title, Interstellar.## Originally released in March 2024, Dune 2 did decently at the Indian box office with a gross collection of 36+ crores ($4.10+ million). It was still among the top Hollywood grossers of the year in the country. It needs to be seen if it can cross 50 crores mark after the re-release.## Meanwhile, there are reports that Warner Bros. will also bring Interstellar back to Indian cinemas on March 14.
