Hrithik Roshan And Saif Ali Khan On Board To Star In The Hindi Remake Of Tamil Blockbuster 'Vikram Vedha'

Mumbai, July 10, 2021: In recent times, Bollywood has been focussing on remakes of South Indian films and has also been successful in doing that. One such film which is currently the talk of the town is Vijay Sethupathi and Madhavan starrer, 2017's Tamil movie 'Vikram Vedha'. ## As per the earlier reports, Mr. Perfectnist, Aamir Khan was on board to star in the remake along with Saif Ali Khan, however, It was recently revealed that Aamir Khan is no longer a part of the Vikram Vedha remake and soon after, it was confirmed that Saif Ali Khan will, however, continue to be a part of the film. ## Now, as per the latest development, Hrithik Roshan is on board to star in the gangster drama and has signed the movie. According to a report in a leading entertainment portal, Hrithik was already in talks for the film even before the makers reached out to Aamir. Madhavan as righteous police officer Vikram while Vijay Sethupathi played the gangster Vedha. In the Hindi remake, Hrithik will play the gangster while Saif essays the cop. The film draws from the ancient lore of Vikram-Betaal, where a wily gangster manages to escape every time a determined cop nabs him, by narrating a new story drawn from his own life.## Before moving on to Vikram Vedha, Hrithik will complete shooting for his digital debut, Night Manager for Disney+ Hotstar in which he will be seen in a stylish avatar. ## The 'Vikram Vedha' will be directed by Pushkar – Gayatri (a husband-wife duo), who helmed the original film too. Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' Most-Watched Film In India Post Lockdown Followed By Tamil Movie 'Biskoth' At Second Number

The Christopher Nolan-directed Tenet, starring Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, and Dimple Kapadia, has emerged as the most-watched film in India post lockdown. According to the #ShowOfTheYear2020 report by BookMyShow, cinemas have sold an estimated seven lakh tickets since reopening after the Covid-induced lockdown.## There has been a steady increase in screens across cinemas pan-India, with 2800 screens operational at the moment. Tenet remains the most-watched film having sold three lakh tickets. The data is for sales from October 16 to December 18. Second to Tenet in the Top Watched Movies Post Lockdown list by ticket sales is Biskoth (Tamil), followed by Irandam Kuththu (Tamil), Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari (Hindi), and Dracula Sir (Bengali).## Dracula Sir was the first new film to release post the lockdown, during Dussehra. The top cities for films post lockdown are Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and NCR.## In terms of in-home virtual entertainment, 2,33,219 consumers registered and bought tickets to watch virtual events. Sports (cricket), Music shows, Workshops, Performances (acts such as circus), Comedy, and Online Games emerged as the Most Popular Genres. The data is from April 1 till December 18.## "While a complete return to out-of-home entertainment will probably take a few more months, we foresee the future of entertainment to remain strong as people love to socialize and get out. However, we think there is an opportunity for a hybrid model where both out-of-home and a live experien"e on-ground may co-exist", said Ashish Hemrajani from BookMyShow.## Talking about the pre-lockdown times in 2020, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was the top film. It is followed by Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (Telugu), Sarileru Neekevvaru (Telugu), Darbar (Tamil), Bheeshma (Telugu), Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (Hindi), Baaghi 3 (Hindi), Street Dancer 3 (Hindi), Anjaam Pathiraa (Malayalam) and 1917 (English).## The top watched genres remained action, historicals, and drama. BookMyShow sold 2.1 million film tickets for a single day on January 12, the highest ever sold. Baaghi 3 was the last film in theatres with 35 percent watching the movie before the curtains were temporarily brought down in theatres in India. Filmmaker Santhosh Kodenkeri To Direct The Biopic Of 'Bridgeman of India' Girish Bhardwaj

Filmmaker Santhosh Kodenkeri is all set to capture the life of Padma Shri Awardee, Girish Bhardwaj, who is often referred to as 'Sethu Bandhu' and 'Bridgeman of India' for building around 139 bridges in remote villages across the country.## Titled "The Bridgeman", the biography will be released in Kannada and Hindi languages. The project is a departure for Kodenkeri, who directed the Kannada horror thriller "Home Stay" in 2016. The director feels it is challenging to make a biographical drama because if a filmmaker shows a person's life as it is, then it may look like a documentary film.## "It's like a parallel film. It's in a similar space as 'Saand Ki Aankh' or 'Manjhi: The Mountain Man', so the style of filmmaking will be to portray a true character and subject in a cinematic way. It is a bit challenging. If we show his story as it is, then it may look like a documentary, so we have to add some ingredients and we have to show a couple of issues he faced during his journey", Kodenkeri told IANS.## Santhosh Kodenkeri further said that he and his team have taken the official permission from Bhardwaj and he is happy that his real-life will be shown to people who are unaware of it. The filmmaker also revealed the casting is underway as the movie requires a lot of actors. He will soon make an official announcement. The cast and crew will be shooting in five different locations of Kerala and Hyderabad.## Talking about the release of the film, the filmmaker added, "We are planning to release the film in 2021 but it depends on the geographical aspect as well because we want to show the monsoon period and heavy water flows in rivers. Hollywood filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov has partnered with Reliance Entertainment and Sharad Devarajan's Graphic India to produce a slate of Hindi films. Timur will bring his Screenlife filmmaking format to India through Hindi language productions. ## The Russian origin director who is known for films such as "Wanted" (2008), "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" (2012), and "Night Watch" (2004), will develop a slate of original local language films leveraging the Screenlife genre in India with his other two partners. ## In the first phase of the new partnership, Bekmambetov and Sharad Devarajan of Graphic India will be working closely with Reliance Entertainment on the development and production of the three films by up-and-coming Indian filmmakers and storytellers. The first project has been finalized and is expected to go into production early next year.## The Screenlife movie format is one where the story unfolds as seen on the screens of devices such as smartphones and computers. The format made a massive breakthrough in 2015 when Bekmambetov produced "Unfriended". The film grossed $65 million worldwide with a budget of $1 million. UFO Moviez, India's largest digital cinema distribution network and in-cinema advertising platform, has forayed into film distribution now. The board of UFO Moviez India on Monday (21 December 2020) approved the company's foray into the film distribution business. ## UFO Moviez announced its foray into film distribution with an intent to consolidate and position itself as a one-stop pan India film distributor. The company said the endeavor is guided by a three-fold objective model promoting fee-based film distribution, Virtual Print Fee (VPF) as a percentage of box-office revenue instead of an upfront fixed charge, and zero-content risk.## The foray is to ensure films get a wide release under a totally de-risked business model. The company has adopted a fee-based distribution model in which it does not take any financial risk in the content.## To begin with, UFO has announced 11 films it would release all over India from December 25, 2020, to March 31, 2021. Shakeela, which is slated to hit screens on December 25, will be the first film to be released by the company. Besides Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi starrer Shakeela, some of the other films to be released in cinemas by UFO Moviez are Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi, Aadhar, 12 O'Clock, Dangerous, Disha Encounter, Murder, and Flight.## UFO Moviez has partnered with Jio Studios for the nationwide distribution of their upcoming movies "Ram Prasad ki Tehrvi" and "Aadhar" and with Ram Gopal Varma films for three films - 12 O'Clock, Disha Encounter, and Murder. Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Coolie No. 1 is all set to release on the occasion of Christmas 2020, on the digital platform Amazon Prime Video. The remake of Govinda and Karishma Kapoor's blockbuster movie from 1995 of the same name is already creating a lot of buzz because of the songs of which, a few of the songs are recreated from the original movie. ## After Husnn Hai Suhaana, the latest song, Tujhe Mirchi Lagi, from the movie released today on Monday and is already trending on social media.
