Anurag Kashyap's Nishaanchi Saga Gets a Surprise Two-Part Drop on Prime Video

In a move that caught many by surprise, Anurag Kashyap's latest crime epic, "Nishaanchi 2," has premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video. The streamer opted for an unconventional release strategy, making both the first and second parts of the saga available for audiences to watch back-to-back starting November 14, 2025. This allows viewers to experience the complete, sprawling narrative in a single sitting. The two-part film marks the acting debut of Aaishvary Thackeray, grandson of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, who tackles a demanding dual role as twin brothers, Babloo and Dabloo. The story is a gritty exploration of brotherhood, crime, and consequence. The first installment, which had a theatrical run in September 2025, sets the stage by introducing the twins and their mother, a former sharpshooter played by Monika Panwar. One brother, Babloo, is pulled into the criminal underworld, operating under a ruthless gang leader portrayed by Kumud Mishra. His path takes a complicated turn when he falls for a young woman (Vedika Pinto) whose father he was responsible for killing. Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi's Movie collection Nishaanchi 2 continues this intense journey, shifting its focus to the themes of punishment, atonement, and the inescapable consequences of a life of crime, leading to a dramatic conclusion where dark secrets are finally brought to light. Directed and co-written by Anurag Kashyap, the project is backed by producers Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh. The films also feature a talented ensemble cast, including Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Viineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles. Kashyap stated that the saga is his tribute to the high-stakes emotion and drama of classic Hindi cinema. Prime Video's representative, Nikhil Madhok, added that the simultaneous release of both parts offers viewers a deeply layered narrative that is a perfect showcase of Kashyap's signature, unfiltered filmmaking style.

De De Pyaar De 2 Day 1 Early Estimates: Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh-starrer Opens On Expected Lines

Mumbai, November 14 - The much-awaited romantic comedy sequel De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan, has taken a decent start on the expected lines at the domestic box office. According to early estimates, DDPD2 has opened in the range of 8-9 crores net collection, which is very much in line with pre-release expectations. A double-digit start for the film would have been ideal, but not so good pre-sales indicated that it would require extraordinary word of mouth to reach there, which didn't happen. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The movie was lacking the buzz which is required for a solid opening; however, the makers failed to maintain it after the well-received trailer. Given the sequel tag, the opening of DDPD2 is below par, as the first film opened to over 10 crores net in 2019. As said, the opening is still not something which can be called bad, and has comfortably beaten the opening of Ajay Devgn's last movie, Son of Sardaar 2 (7.25 crores net). The film has a chance to bounce back strongly on Saturday and Sunday, especially with hardly any competition at the moment. The weekend collection of DDPD2 will aim to reach around 30 crores net, which is, even though not a good total, but will be respectable. As always, the film's fate will be known by Monday, as it may emerge as a decent success if the film manages to hold well during working days. Stay tuned...

A source close to the production revealed that Heeraben's life story, including the hardship of losing her own mother at a young age and her quiet resilience in holding her family together, was a key factor that resonated with the actress. Maa Vande, which carries the tagline The Anthem of a Mother, will predominantly focus on the mother-son relationship, chronicling the sacrifices and contributions Heeraben made throughout her son's journey. The narrative is expected to offer audiences an intimate perspective on Modi's upbringing and the formative years of his life. Rewriting the Verdict The Decades-Long Journey of Bollywoods Most Misunderstood Masterpieces

In the unforgiving world of Bollywood, the Friday box office verdict is often seen as the final word. Yet, history is littered with cinematic gems that were dismissed upon arrival, only to be resurrected by a generation of viewers who saw the magic that critics and initial audiences missed. These are the films that failed to make money but went on to make history, transitioning from box office disasters to beloved cult legends. Their journeys prove that a film's true worth isn't always measured in opening weekend collections but in its enduring ability to connect, entertain, and provoke thought long after the "flop" label has faded. Here’s a look at some of Bollywood's most celebrated phoenixes that rose from the ashes of commercial failure. Mera Naam Joker (1970): The Magnum Opus That Broke Its Creator Raj Kapoor's four-hour epic was a financial catastrophe that nearly bankrupted him. Audiences rejected its melancholic tone. Years after its failure, its ultimate cult status was cemented when television allowed viewers to watch the full director's cut at their own pace. This home-viewing experience allowed audiences to finally appreciate the profound, autobiographical masterpiece that was too overwhelming for a single theatrical viewing. Mera Naam Joker: Fact File Director: Raj Kapoor Starring: Raj Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Manoj Kumar, Rishi Kapoor The Turning Point: Home viewing of the full director's cut on television. Defining Legacy: Considered Raj Kapoor's most personal, ambitious, and autobiographical project. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983): The Satire That Was Ahead of Its Time Released in just four theaters, Kundan Shah's biting satire on corruption sank without a trace. The film's legacy was built through its circulation on home video (VHS tapes) and its broadcast on Doordarshan, India's national television network. This brought its genius to a wider audience, and the legendary Mahabharata scene is now considered a textbook example of satire in film schools across the country. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro: Fact File Director: Kundan Shah Starring: Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur The Turning Point: Broadcasts on Doordarshan & circulation on VHS tapes. Defining Legacy: The chaotic and legendary Mahabharata climax scene. Andaz Apna Apna (1994): The Comedy That Laughed Last A shocking commercial failure upon release due to poor marketing, this comedy masterpiece found its second life in a way no one could have predicted. Its true resurrection came via satellite television, where endless reruns on channels like Sony Max turned it into a national phenomenon. Its quirky characters and endlessly quotable dialogues became ingrained in India’s pop culture, ensuring its legacy not in theaters, but in the living rooms of millions. Andaz Apna Apna: Fact File Director: Rajkumar Santoshi Starring: Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor The Turning Point: Constant reruns on satellite television. Defining Legacy: The characters of Crime Master Gogo and Teja; dialogues becoming everyday slang. Swades (2004): The Understated Gem That Found Its Home Considered too slow and didactic upon release, this Shah Rukh Khan starrer was a box office disappointment. The film's incredible turnaround is quantified by its massive success on television, where it has consistently garnered huge TRPs (Television Rating Points) with every broadcast. This overwhelming response proved that the film's heartfelt patriotism resonated deeply, confirming its status as a classic that simply needed a different medium. Swades: Fact File Director: Ashutosh Gowariker Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Gayatri Joshi The Turning Point: Consistently high television ratings (TRPs) during broadcasts. Defining Legacy: The song "Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera" becoming an unofficial anthem for Indians living abroad. Lakshya (2004): The Coming-of-Age Story That Found Its Target Despite critical acclaim, Farhan Akhtar's film underperformed commercially. Its powerful legacy is marked by its enduring influence on Indian youth; the film is widely credited with inspiring a surge of interest in joining the armed forces. Its adoption as a motivational anthem has cemented its place as a film whose cultural impact far outweighs its box office numbers. Lakshya: Fact File Director: Farhan Akhtar Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan The Turning Point: Adoption by youth as a go-to motivational film. Defining Legacy: Credited with inspiring a renewed interest among youth to join the Indian Army. Tumbbad (2018): The Horror That Rewrote Its Own Fate This visually stunning folk tale had a quiet run at the box office. Its resurrection was driven by streaming platforms, leading to a theatrical re-release in 2024 where its first week's collection surpassed the lifetime earnings of its original run. This is a powerful modern example of how a passionate fanbase can directly rewrite a film's financial and critical history. Tumbbad: Fact File Director: Rahi Anil Barve Starring: Sohum Shah The Turning Point: Word-of-mouth phenomenon on streaming platforms. Defining Legacy: Its 2024 re-release out-earning its entire original theatrical run. These films serve as a vital reminder that the Friday verdict is not always final. True cinematic art often requires time to find its audience, proving that while box office numbers fade, the impact of a great story is eternal.

Why Global Streaming Trends Are Redefining Bollywood's Box Office Strategy Bollywood
BY Sacnilk Team 📰 News

Why Global Streaming Trends Are Redefining Bollywood's Box Office Strategy

Mumbai, November 13 - On a Friday morning in Mumbai, the first show once set the tone for the entire weekend. Trade analysts watched single-screen queues, early multiplex reports, and word of mouth outside the theatre gates. Today, a very different signal arrives alongside those numbers. Social media chatter from other continents, streaming charts, and snippets shared on short video platforms all weigh on how a film is judged. The Indian audience is no longer contained inside the country. Viewers scattered across time zones follow trailers, teasers, and interviews in real time. Many of them watch primarily through browsers and apps rather than theatre screens, and a large share use add-ons such as a browser-based VPN extension to keep their viewing and browsing habits private on shared or public connections. For studios, the important fact is not the tool itself but the growing reality that serious fans may first meet a film through a stream rather than a ticket stub. Audiences Who Discover Films Before Release Global streaming platforms have turned discovery into a permanent cycle. Older titles sit beside fresh releases, and a film that underperformed in its opening weekend can quietly build a second life in recommendations. Clips travel through fan accounts long before a new project hits theatres. By the time opening day arrives in India, overseas viewers may already feel familiar with the director, the leads, and even the music. For producers, this changes the calculation around risk. Songs, teaser scenes, and behind-the-scenes footage become tools to test response months ahead of release. Comments and completion rates tell you which tone lands and which pairing draws repeat plays. The launch is no longer a single event. It is the latest chapter in an ongoing digital conversation. Data That Talks Back To The Studio In the past, feedback arrived in the form of weekend collections and a handful of trade columns. Now platforms deliver granular insight. How many viewers finished the climax? Which scenes were paused or replayed? Where viewers dropped off entirely. This level of detail influences what kinds of stories are financed and how they are edited. Industry observers have started to track how these services are reshaping Indian entertainment. A concise streaming landscape report notes the rapid growth in digital subscriptions and the way audiences are shifting their attention. Box office figures still matter, but they are now read alongside hours watched and subscriber churn. When Streams Shape Scripts Writers and directors are increasingly aware that a large share of their audience watches at home, often on phones. This affects pacing and structure. Openings move faster. Hooks arrive earlier. Scenes are written with the expectation that a viewer might pause, rewind, or even abandon the film if engagement dips. Genres that travel well across borders, such as thrillers, grounded dramas, and visually rich spectacles, receive more interest from investors because they are easier to market on both big screens and streaming menus. At the same time, there is room for quieter stories that might never have survived a purely theatrical model but can find loyal niche audiences online. The New Role Of The Overseas Viewer For decades, the overseas market for Bollywood meant specific pockets of viewers in North America, the United Kingdom, and the Gulf. Tickets were expensive, showtimes limited, and word of mouth slower to build. With streaming, the overseas viewer can watch on the same day as friends back home or even earlier through staggered digital releases. These viewers can amplify or soften the buzz around a title. Positive response abroad can encourage fence sitters in India to give a film a chance in theatres or at least add it to a watchlist for later. In some cases international reception helps a film secure better deals for satellite and digital rights, which then feeds back into how confidently studios can plan future projects. What Box Office Still Means In This Mix Despite all the screens in living rooms and on phones, the theatrical release remains a powerful symbol. Big openings still validate stars, reassure distributors, and energise marketing teams. What has shifted is the understanding that box office is one of several important metrics rather than the single verdict. Producers now look at a more complete picture. Combined earnings from theatres, satellite rights, streaming licences, and long tail performance across libraries and bundles. A film that performs modestly at the domestic box office can still be a success once all those streams of revenue are counted. A Strategy That Looks Beyond Weekend Numbers Global streaming trends are not replacing cinema. They are teaching the industry to read the audience more closely. Bollywood is learning to think about stories over a longer horizon, to see value in sustained engagement rather than only in first weekend euphoria. The future box office strategy will belong to those who can balance spectacle with staying power and measure success both inside the hall and far beyond it.

De De Pyaar De 2 buzz has been a mixed bag. After a widely appreciated trailer, the makers failed to build the buzz, which now seems to be hit and miss. The advance booking, which opened a couple of days before the release, has been lukewarm but did witness some momentum on the last day. Also read - OTT Releases This Week Nov 10 to Nov 17 - Dude, Telusu Kada, K-ramp, Dashavatar, and More The film's final pre-sales are in the range of recently released Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which is of the same genre. SSKTK opened to close to a double-digit start. Here, DDPD2 also has the franchise factor, although it didn't help much in pre-sales, but is expected to receive some boost in spot bookings. The franchise fatigue, however, is real, and that might overpower the overall franchise value if reviews are not favourable. Considering these factors, DDPD2 is expected to open in the range of 8-10 crores net. It is believed and also suggested by the pre-sales trend that the movie's overall box office performance will heavily depend on word of mouth, especially given its genre and target audience. The original DDPD took in 10.40 crores net (including previews), and if the reviews are extremely positive, the sequel might challenge this opening start. One of the big positives for De De Pyaar De 2 is the limited competition at the box office this weekend. With no major releases lined up, the film has a clear run and could benefit from family crowds and walk-in audiences, particularly in urban centres. All eyes are now on audience reactions post-release, as positive buzz could help the film build strong momentum over the weekend and turn into another success story for Ajay Devgn. Stay tuned...

Aamir Khan-fronted Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic With Rajkumar Hirani Shelved? The Duo To Announce A New Film Soon

Mumbai, November 12 - Earlier this year, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and legendary director Rajkumar Hirani announced their third collaboration after the iconic blockbusters like 3 Idiots and PK. The duo reunited for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema. The announcement of the film created a lot of excitement among the fans and in the industry, until recently, when it was reported that Aamir is not happy with the script. According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, Aamir and Hirani have decided to shelve the project and will instead take on another film. It is said that the duo is not happy with the script and has decided to put it on hold. "Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are both known for their perfection. However, they were not satisfied with the script for the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic. Aamir felt it was too dry for today's audiences and lacked the humour typically expected from their pair. After rewriting the script several times, they decided to shelve the project for now", says the report. The report further stated that the blockbuster duo wanted a perfect script to start a film on an iconic figure like Dadasaheb Phalke, which didn't work out as it reportedly lacked emotional impact. The duo is now exploring possibilities to work together on another film. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan, who was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par earlier this year, is reading several scripts and is set to lock his next film soon. Hirani, too, has begun work on his next story and is likely to make it official in the early next year. Stay tuned...

Laalo Krishna Sada Sahaayate Creates History With Massive 5th Weekend: Becomes Biggest Gujarati Grosser of 2025

Mumbai, November 10 - Gujarati devotional drama Laalo Krishna Sada Sahaayate is wreaking havoc at the domestic box office. The movie is behaving like a sleeping giant which suddenly woke and is having carnage with never-before-seen numbers for a Gujarati title. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, Laalo had an unbelievable 5th Sunday with a gross collection of around 8.50 crores. A day before, it minted a record 5+ crores gross, which is the first time a Gujarati film hit the mark, as no Gujarati film had ever grossed even 4 crores in a single day until this. Laalo had one of the biggest 5th Sundays ever at the Indian box office, not just for a Gujarati title. It was the number 1 movie this weekend (5th weekend) with a gross collection of approximately 16.50 crores, pushing the total collection to 32+ crores gross in 31 days. With this, it has become the highest-grossing Gujarati film of the year, and one of the highest of all time. Due to the non-availability of data, it is difficult to determine which is the biggest Gujarati grosser, but as per the unofficial numbers, Chaal Jeevi Laiye (2019) is the number 1 film with over 40 crores gross. Laalo, with the kind of momentum it has, is set to cross the current record-holder and become the biggest Gollywood blockbuster ever. It is hard to predict where Laalo will end its box office run, but with momentum by its side, it should cross the 50 crores mark easily and might go on to top 75 crores, which is unthinkable for a Gujarati film. Emraan Hashmi, Yami Gautam's Haq Sees Big Jump On Day 2: Heads For A Decent Weekend

Mumbai, November 8 - Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi-fronted Haq is having a good at the box office. The film, based on a historic Supreme Court judgement, seems to be striking a chord with the audience with its intense courtroom drama and compelling performance by the lead pair. Directed by Suparn Varma, Haq had a decent start domestically after it opened to approximately 1.75 crores in net collections. Though, is nowhere near Yami's last film, Article 370 (5.90 crores net), the film debuted on the expected lines for its genre and subject. The movie received a rousing reception from critics with high praise towards the story and performance of Yami and Emraan. The audience also seems to be on the same page, as the second day is almost 100% with double the collection of day 1. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The growth on the second day is a heartening sign for the film, which is heavily reliant on wom. With a 2-day total of 5+ crores net, Haq is looking at nearly double-digit opening weekend, which is decent given the limited expectations for it. If the initial trend is any indication, Haq is in for a good run at the domestic box office. The WOM is expected to come in handy during the weekdays, as a decent hold through the week will put it on course for a good weekend. Still a long way to go, but the movie's showing positive signs. Haq Day 1 Box Office A Quiet Start for Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmis Courtroom Drama

Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s courtroom drama Haq began its theatrical journey on a subdued note. Early estimates place the opening day collection at ₹1.65 crore (net), reflecting a slow but steady start for the intense legal drama. The Hindi 2D version recorded an overall 9.97% occupancy on Friday, November 7, 2025. The occupancy pattern through the day showed gradual improvement, with: *Morning shows: 5.66% *Afternoon shows: 8.19% *Evening shows: 9.54% *Night shows: 16.50% While the numbers aren’t big, the film managed to draw more viewers during night shows, hinting at growing curiosity among urban audiences. Directed by Suparn Verma, Haq is inspired by real-life events surrounding women’s rights and legal justice in India. The film follows Shazia Bano, portrayed by Yami Gautam, a woman who stands up for her dignity after being divorced by her husband, played by Emraan Hashmi. What unfolds is a gripping courtroom battle that questions faith, law, and equality. Produced by Junglee Pictures and Baweja Studios, the film also features Vartika Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, and Danish Husain in pivotal roles. Set against a deeply emotional and socially relevant backdrop, Haq blends legal intensity with human drama, offering audiences a reflective cinematic experience. Critics have praised the film for its sensitive handling of a challenging subject. Yami Gautam once again impresses with her restrained yet powerful performance, anchoring the narrative with quiet conviction. Emraan Hashmi brings nuance to a complex role, balancing vulnerability and pride. The supporting cast adds emotional weight, ensuring the story feels grounded and real. Though the opening numbers are modest, early audience reactions highlight appreciation for the film’s thought-provoking content and strong performances.Haq may not have had a roaring start, but its content-driven theme and positive word-of-mouth could help it find a steady footing over the weekend. With night shows already showing better traction, the film’s performance in urban multiplexes will be key. If the momentum builds, Haq could follow the path of several slow-burn dramas that grew on the strength of critical acclaim and audience trust. Haq opened softly but with purpose — a film that speaks more through emotion than spectacle. While it may not chase blockbuster numbers, its heart lies in storytelling that resonates. If audiences connect with its message, Haq could quietly emerge as one of the more meaningful dramas of the year. Box-office checker alert! Tere Ishk Mein Team Issues a “Heartfelt” Apology — Literally

The makers of Tere Ishk Mein have dropped what might just be the most dramatic (and hilarious) apology note of the year. In a tongue-in-cheek “official apology statement,” the team confessed that viewers have entered a “phase of heightened emotional activity” after witnessing the scorching chemistry between Kriti Sanon and Dhanush. The note humorously acknowledges “hearts set on fire,” “sleepless nights,” and even the “uncontrollable urge to text your ex,” all thanks to the duo’s intense on-screen pairing. While admitting they can’t undo the emotional chaos, the makers apologised for “reviving feelings you thought you had buried.” The film’s team signed off cheekily, asking fans to direct their grievances “to your therapist or your playlist.” With A.R. Rahman’s music, Aanand L. Rai’s direction, and Bhushan Kumar backing the project, Tere Ishk Mein looks set to stir hearts and playlists alike when it hits cinemas on 28 November, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The most heartfelt apology you’ll read today. #TereIshkMein#TereIshkMein in cinemas 28th November in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.@dhanushkraja @kritisanon @arrahman @aanandlrai #BhushanKumar #HimanshuSharma #KrishanKumar @colouryellow_in @AAFilmsIndia pic.twitter.com/SHHIBILy1l— T-Series (@TSeries) November 7, 2025
