The Success of 'Brahmastra' Will Pave The Way For 'Ram Setu' And 'Adipurush'?
Mumbai, September 3 - The Bollywood film industry is having some nervy moments ahead of the big release of director Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. Arguably the biggest Hindi film ever, the fantasy adventure film tells the story of Ancient Indian Astras, led by Brahmastra, which is considered the most powerful Astra among all of them. ##
"Brahmastra" carries a lot of expectations regarding its box office potential. The Bollywood industry hasn't had a great time at the box office during the post-pandemic era but "Brahmastra" is the film that actually can change the fortune and pave the way for a couple of upcoming films as well. ##
The makers have been promoting the film heavily and leaving no stone unturned to make the film reach every person in the country. The excitement among the audiences is high and it can be understood by the fact that the advance booking of the film is off to a flier and is looking to score one of the biggest pre-sales records for a Bollywood movie. ##
The success of "Brahmastra" is very important for the industry considering there are at least two more films of a similar genre - Ram Setu (Diwali 2022) and Adipurush (Jan. 12, 2023), lined up for release in the next 5 months. It is not that these films need any kind of validation to succeed at the box office, but the success of "Brahmastra" will mean that the audience is ready to accept these kinds of films that haven't been made in Indian cinema before. ##
"Ram Setu" is arguably Akshay Kumar's biggest film to date and as of now, it seems to be one of the films to watch out for this year. It is a historical action-adventure film, which is based on one of the most important chapters of the epic Ramayana (7th century BCE to 3rd century CE). The plot involves an archaeologist, who has set out to check out whether "Ram Setu" is a myth or a reality. ##
The Prabhas-fronted "Adipurush", on the other hand, is a movie that is already seen as a potential global blockbuster, and "Brahmastra" success could further validate this fact. The adaptation of Ramayana, "Adipurush" is the most expansive Indian film to date with an estimated budget of 500 crores. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, the film stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. ##
This is the first time that multiple films based on Ramayana and other Hindu mythology are coming out on a regular space. "Ramayana" has been a massive hit on television in the 1980s and now, it is coming to the big screen. However, the only thing that might make the industry nervous regarding "Ram Setu" and "Adipurush" is that they are yet to know how the audience is going to accept these films. That's where "Brahmastra" is going to play a massive role in that process. ##
"Brahmastra" is produced by Dharma Productions, Starlight Pictures, and Prime Focus in association with Star Studios. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in prominent roles. It is scheduled to release on September 9 in Hindi along with dubbed versions of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ##
