Los Angeles, December 2—The Hollywood box office is on fire. Americans spent over $400 million in the last five days, an all-time record for the Thanksgiving weekend where Disney's Moana 2, Universal Pictures' Wicked and Paramount's Gladiator II were the chief architect of it. ## Moana 2, a sequel to Disney's near $700 million worldwide grosser, was in the mood to sweep the domestic box office this past weekend. The film grossed a tsunamic $225 million over 5-days, a Thanksgiving record and the biggest opening for an animated title. ## Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-led Wicked was the second-best movie during the same frame, which was its second weekend with a gigantic $119.5 million, helping its total domestic cume to reach $262 million in 10 days. Ridley Scott's R-rated epic Gladiator 2 came third with $44 million over 5-days Thanksgiving weekend. ## The combined telly of Moana 2, Wicked, and Gladiator of $387+ million was more than enough to script the biggest-ever Thanksgiving weekend at the North American box office, surpassing 2018's Thanksgiving weekend of $315 million singlehandedly.## It wasn't just about only three aforementioned movies, as the total 5-day holiday weekend this year was approximately $425+ million, including Red One ($13 million), and a few other movies, at the US box office. Box Office: 'Wicked' Becomes The Highest-Grossing Musical Adaptation In North America

Los Angeles, November 30 - A record-breaking Thanksgiving weekend is ongoing at the North American box office with the top 3 films - Moana 2, Wicked and Gladiator 2 going all out for the big money. Only these three films alone are projected to earn a gigantic over $375+ million over the 5-day weekend. ## Meanwhile, amid the Moana 2's monstrous opening, Ariana Grande-Butera and Cynthia Erivo's epic musical fantasy film Wicked has breached a major box office milestone at the domestic box office as it has become the highest-grossing musical adaptation and first to reach $200 million in North America. ## Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked grossed a strong $32 million on its second Friday, pushing total domestic (North America) cume to $214.3 million. Los Angeles, November 26—Last year, the Barbenheimer (Barbie and Oppenheimer) phenomenon stormed the box office from its record-breaking start to its historic finish. Both movies collectively grossed over $2.4 billion worldwide and were two of the year's highest-grossing films, with Barbie finishing at the top with $1.44 billion. ## More than a year later, another box office clash called Glicked (Gladiator II and Wicked) is making waves. It is not exactly as big as Barbenheimer but powerful enough to keep the trade excited going forward where Wicked is behaving like Barbie while Gladiator II can be the Oppenheimer. ## The Ridley Scott's directorial R-rated epic historical action drama, Gladiator 2 has already surpassed $200 million globally after debuting internationally on November 13. Through Sunday (November 24), G2 has made $165.5 million at the overseas box office while it debuted domestically (North America) on November 22 and grossed $55 million in the opening weekend for a worldwide cume of $220 million. ## Wicked, which is a musical fantasy film starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, had a strong debut domestically with a huge $112.5 million opening weekend.
