Mumbai, February 6 - It was recently reported that Zee Studios greenlit Gadar 3, following the historic blockbuster success of its predecessor. Sunny Deol will be returning to play the lead role of Tara Singh along with director Anil Sharma. ## Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, which grossed close to 700 crores worldwide, was set 20 years after the events of the first film which was released in 2001. However, the third instalment won't have a huge time gap, according to a report in Bollywood Hungama. ## It is said that Gadar 3 will be set immediately after the events of the second film or it'll be set a few years after the incidents in the sequel, but there won't be a huge jump in the timeline. The makers reportedly believe that it wouldn't look logical to keep another 20 year of gap considering Sunny's age. ## The report further revealed that the makers had 4 ideas to take Gadar's story forward and they finally locked one for which the script work is on. Apart from Sunny Deol, Sakina (Ameesha Patel) and Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma), will also be a part of the third part. They, too, more or less, will play the same age as they did in Gadar 2.## Gadar 3 is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2025 and it will release in 2026. Mumbai, January 19 - Sunny Deol as Tara Singh will be returning for the third round after Zee Studios reportedly green-lit the threequel to the mega-blockbuster period action drama franchise, Gadar. It all began in 2021 when Sunny Deol and director Anil Sharma teamed up for "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" which went on to become the biggest Indian blockbuster of that time. ## 22 years later, the team of Gadar reunited for its sequel, "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" and scripted history with it. The movie went on to gross close to 700 crores at the worldwide box office and became one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. The mega success of Gadar 2 ensured that there would be the third film in the series and it is happening. ## Though it was already reported that director Anil Sharma trying the crack the idea Gadar 3, and according to Pinkvilla, the filmmaker has finally locked the basic idea and Zee Studios has green-lit the same. It is said that the first round of paperwork has been done between Zee Studios, Anil Sharma, and Sunny Deol. ## The franchise has been set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak conflict and Gadar 3 will follow the same though the stakes will be higher than before. "A lot of writing will happen to develop the idea, but the team has got the direction of where the story of Tara Singh, Sakina, and Jeete heads from here on", the report says. ## Director Anil Sharma has himself confirmed the development and said that he would start working on the Gadar 3 script after completing his upcoming film featuring his son Utkarsh Sharma and Nana Patekar. The film is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2025. ## Sunny Deol, meanwhile, recently concluded the shooting for his next titled "Safar". The list is determined by page views on IMDb by fans. ## Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Pathaan are the first two most popular Indian movies of the year, respectively. Both movies grossed over 2100 crores at the global box office and are currently the top two highest-grossing Indian movies of the year. Interestingly, SRK is also the most popular Indian star of the year, as per IMDb rankings. ## Karan Johar's directorial return, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is the third most popular Indian movie of the year so far. Directed by Anil Sharma, the period action drama grossed around 685 crores at the worldwide box office upon its release on August 11 and became one of the biggest blockbusters of all-time. ## The film was made available on ZEE5 after the 8 weeks of theatrical run on October 6. The mega blockbuster movie has almost completed its box office run and now, it will be streaming on ZEE5 from 6 October, 8 weeks after the theatrical release date.## Gadar 2 is the sequel to 2001's all-time blockbuster, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Produced by Anil Sharma in association with Zee Studios, the latest blockbuster stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma, who reprise their roles from the previous film.
