WWE SmackDown 10/7 Results: GUNTHER Retains WWE Intercontinental Title

On tonight's episode of Raw, Gunther defeated Sheamus to retain his WWE Intercontinental Championship title. When Sheamus was going for a brogue kick, Gunther won by defeating Sheamus with shillelagh. Referee Jessica Carr missed the illegal item as The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland, and Butch) and Imperium (Ludwig Kai.

That wasn't the only controversial moment in the match, Then Sheamus locks Gunther into the cloverleaf but Gunther reaches the bottom rope, Imperium then comes out but Butch and Ridge Holland take them out, Gunther then shoots Sheamus behind the referee's back with a shillelagh to win the pinfall.

On the June 10 episode of WWE SmackDown, Gunther defeated Ricochet to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The win marked his fourth successful title defense. He has previously successfully defended his title against Sheamus at WWE Clash at the Castle.

Sheamus and Gunther will be on opposite sides of the ring again at WWE Extreme Rules when The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Butch) take on Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci) in a good old-fashioned Donnybrook.
