Los Angeles, January 2 - Tom Holland, the 25-year old British actor, is in line to become the next big thing in the Hollywood film industry. The young talented actor has just delivered the biggest blockbuster of the covid-19 pandemic era in the form of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which becomes the first film since December 2019 to gross $1 billion at worldwide box office.
The instant box office blockbuster has had many factors that worked very well in favor of it, but it was Holland's peppy, quippy and youthful take on the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man that gives the comic-book epic its zip and heart. The success of "No Way Home" could lead Holland into the elite league of Hollywood stars.
According to Variety, Holland's brand and bankability have seen an exponential rise, thanks to his iconic superhero role, which he first played in "Captain America: Civil War" (2015). It is said that prior to his first Marvel appearance, Holland made less than $1 million per role in movies. Now, he could be making $2 million to $5 million for independent movies.
The fact that "No Way Home" is proved to be the biggest hit for Holland, and according to a Variety report, the actor is set to hike his remuneration to feature in a leading role in traditional studio's commercial film from here on. The report suggests Holland's asking price should leap into the low eight-figures while at streamers, the Marvel star's paycheck could swing to $20 million or more.
Tom Holland, however, has to deliver outside Marvel movies to continue to fetch higher paycheck in the future. While there is no doubt he perfectly lived up to expectations as Spider-Man at the box office, a huge test for his big screen prowess will be Sony's upcoming big-budget action adventure film "Uncharted", in which Holland is playing the young fortune hunter Nathan Drake. It is slated to release in February 2022.
