Parasakthi Box Office: Sivakarthikeyan's Political Drama Secures a Solid Start

Directed by the acclaimed Sudha Kongara, the highly anticipated Tamil historical political drama Parasakthi made its theatrical debut yesterday, January 10, 2026.The film arrived amidst high expectations and significant pre-release buzz, particularly as it marks a departure from lead actor Sivakarthikeyan's usual commercial roles into a more intense, content-driven narrative.Despite facing last-minute hurdles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and concerns regarding a crowded January release window, the movie has managed to capture the audience's attention across the state.

According to early estimates, Parasakthi has collected approximately ₹12.35 crore India Net and ₹14.75 crore India Gross on its opening day, while the overseas collection is around 10 crore. It is important to note that these figures are based on initial tracking and early estimates; the final figures may vary slightly as official data from all territories is consolidated. The film recorded an impressive overall Tamil occupancy of around 62.79% on Saturday, with night shows peaking at nearly 79%, indicating strong word-of-mouth that could propel the film through the rest of the Pongal week.

The film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role of Chezhiyan and Ravi Mohan (Jayam Ravi) as Thirunaadan. It also marks the highly anticipated Tamil debut of actress Sreeleela, who plays Rathnamala.The cast is further bolstered by Atharvaa Murali, Rana Daggubati and Basil Joseph in a cameo role, and a host of veteran actors like Prakash Belawadi and Guru Somasundaram.Set against the turbulent backdrop of the 1960s anti-Hindi imposition agitations in Madras State, the story explores the personal and political struggles of two brothers during a defining chapter of Tamil Nadu's history.
