Kochi, August 17 - Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's blockbuster Lucifer (2019) is getting ready for its sequel. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the political action thriller film is the second highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Sukumaran also played an extended cameo in the film.



The talks regarding the sequel have been in place since last year and things are now shaping up quickly. Sukumaran had revealed last year that the sequel was supposed to take place last year itself but they were forced to postpone due to the covid-19 pandemic. It is now getting ready to start production soon as Murali Gopi is done with the screenplay.





"Lucifer" is believed to be developed into a franchise and it is very much possible that there will be more films after the second part. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, the movie features Mohanlal in the lead role along with Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran, among others in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal has been working on nearly a dozen of films at the moment. Among his upcoming films, director Jeethu Joseph's third installment is also in the pipeline and it is surely one of the most exciting films he has in development.
