Longtime Injury Resurfaces: Bobby Roode Reflects On Career And WWE Future

WWE star Bobby Roode recently opened up about his neck injury, revealing its surprising origin over a decade ago during a match with Rob Van Dam in TNA.

Roode, on "Insight" with Chris Van Vliet, explained the injury stemmed from a "weird circumstance" during a seemingly routine move with RVD. He emphasized it wasn't either wrestler's fault. Despite experiencing temporary numbness, Roode continued the match, and the issue seemingly subsided.

However, the injury resurfaced during a 2022 match against Omos in WWE, causing further damage. Although medically cleared to wrestle again, Roode, nearing 48, expressed his contentment with his current role as a backstage producer.

Roode joined WWE with the intention of becoming a coach, a role he feels aligns with his current producer position. He acknowledged his impressive career, including stints in "NXT" and the main roster, and expressed satisfaction with his current contributions.

While not entirely ruling out a return, Roode conceded a full-time wrestling career is unlikely. He joins Jason Jordan and Tyson Kidd, who transitioned to producer roles after facing career-altering injuries.

This story highlights the grueling nature of professional wrestling and the adaptability required for wrestlers to navigate the physical demands of the sport and carve out fulfilling careers beyond the ring.
