Lokesh Kanagarajs debut film DC with Wamiqa Gabbi promises a grand start for the filmmaker-turned-actor

The buzz around Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next move just got bigger. According to recent reports on social media, the celebrated filmmaker has allegedly been offered a whopping ₹35 crore by Sun Pictures for his acting debut — a figure touted as the highest ever for a debut hero in Indian cinema.

While there’s no official confirmation yet, the news has quickly become the talk of Tamil film circles. Following the release of Rajinikanth’s Coolie, Lokesh Kanagaraj is said to be collaborating with Arun Matheswaran for his debut acting project. Interestingly, reports also suggest that Lokesh will contribute to the story and screenplay apart from playing the lead.

Fans are eager to see how the Leo and Vikram filmmaker transitions to acting, especially after building one of Tamil cinema’s most successful cinematic universes. If the reported ₹35 crore paycheck turns out to be true, it would mark yet another milestone in Lokesh’s already illustrious career.

Titled DC, the film marks Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-anticipated debut as a lead actor, directed by Captain Miller filmmaker Arun Matheswaran and backed by Sun Pictures. Lokesh essays the role of Devadas, while Wamiqa Gabbi stars opposite him as Chandra — her first Tamil film as a leading lady. The film also features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Mukesh G, and editing by GK Prasanna. With this collaboration, DC promises to blend Arun’s gritty storytelling with Lokesh’s larger-than-life presence.
