Jawan Scores All-Time Record Opening For A Bollywood Movie In South Indian States

Mumbai, September 7 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's latest entertainer Jawan begins its box office journey on the historic note. The action thriller, directed by Atlee Kumar, getting unanimous positive reviews from the critics while initial audience reception also looks super positive, which resulting in massive opening day numbers.

The opening of Jawan is easily the highest ever for a Bollywood which was expected with the kind of pre-sales it scored. While the movie was already tracking record-breaking start in North India, the kind of opening it has taken in the South India is an eye opener for the Bollywood industry.



Jawan has broken all the records for an outright Hindi movie in the entire South Indian states. The Telugu states (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) have delivered the biggest contribution among all the South Indian states, as it scored 9.30 crores gross, which is also an all-time biggest opening for a Hindi movie ever in this part, beating Pathaan and Brahmastra.

In Tamil Nadu, Jawan has grossed 7.30 crores on the opening day, which is again an all-time record by a margin. In Kerala, the movie has comfortably beaten previous record holder Pathaan by an almost double margin with 3.50 crores gross in the state. The same story is also in Karnataka with gross collection with 7.10 crores, which is again an all-time record for an outright Bollywood movie.

The overall opening of the movie in the aforementioned four South Indian states is 27.20 crores gross (23 crores net), which is simply fantastic to say the least. With the long weekend ahead of it, Jawan is up for a massive first weekend in South Indian states.
