New York, December 22 - In a significant shake-up in New Japan Pro-Wrestling's (NJPW) management, the board of directors and shareholders have announced a change in the company's leadership structure. The decision, made during a meeting on December 23, 2023, aims to usher in a new era for the renowned professional wrestling promotion.

Personnel Changes:

Outgoing Officials:

Takami Ohbari: Stepping down from the position of President/Representative Director.

Michiaki Nishizawa: Resigning from the role of Director.



Newly Appointed Officials:

President & Representative Director: Hiroshi Tanahashi

Director: Hitoshi Matsumoto (Chief of Business Production, TV Asahi)



Director: Taro Okada (President & CEO, Bushiroad Fight) Part-time basis

Reason for the Change:

The primary motivation behind this significant personnel change is the restructuring of the management framework within NJPW.

Effective Date:

The changes take effect on December 23, marking the transition in leadership roles.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, born on November 13, 1976, in Ogaki City, Gifu, has been appointed as the new President & Representative Director of NJPW. Tanahashi's journey in professional wrestling began in 1999 when he joined NJPW, making his debut in October of that year. Regarded as the 'Ace' of NJPW, Tanahashi has achieved numerous accolades, including winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship a record eight times and earning the Pro-Wrestling MVP title four times.
