Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali Joins BJP
Professional wrestler and WWE star Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as The Great Khali, joined the BJP on Thursday.
Khali arrived at the BJP headquarters in Delhi earlier in the day and was welcomed into the party at an induction ceremony at 1 pm.
"With The Great Khali joining us, it will be a source of inspiration to youth as well as other people of the country," said Union Minister and senior BJP leader Jitendra Singh.
He made his professional wrestling debut in 2000. Before starting his professional wrestling career, he was an assistant sub-inspector of Punjab Police.
On 2 January 2006, Rana became the first Indian professional wrestler to be signed to a contract by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). As Daivari's manager, Khali entered SmackDown! on 7 April. He debuted on WWE television as a villain in episode 1 of The Undertaker and left him defenseless during his match with Mark Henry, thus leading to a no contest.
Khali made his in-ring debut on 21 April episode of SmackDown!, defeating Funaki.
He has also appeared in four Hollywood films, two Bollywood films, and several television shows. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the 2021 class.
