Blockbuster 'The Kerala Story' Crosses 200 Crores At The Worldwide Box Office
Mumbai, May 18 - Director Sudipto Sen's drama film The Kerala Story crossed the 200 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office within two weeks, becoming only the third Bollywood movie of the year to do so.
The movie, based on true incidents, hits the double-century mark on its 13th day and currently stands at a little over 200 crores gross mark. In India, The Kerala Story has grossed approx. 194 crores (164.59 crores net) while the overseas collection is approx. 6 crores in 13 days.
The Kerala Story was released on May 12 in overseas markets and will debut in the UK on May 19. Made on a low budget, TKS has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters post the covid-19 pandemic. It is currently the 3rd highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year, behind only "Pathaan" (1050 crore) and "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar" (223 crores).
Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banners of Sunshine Pictures, the movie stars Adah Sharma in the lead role alongside Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. The plot follows the story of a group of women from Kerala who are converted to Islam and join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
