AEW Forbidden Door 2024 Expands With CMLL And STARDOM Involvement

The annual wrestling spectacle, Forbidden Door, is set to get even bigger in 2024. The event, a collaboration between AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), has traditionally seen stars from these two companies clash inside the ring.

This year, however, the forbidden door appears to be swinging open wider. Dave Meltzer, on Wrestling Observer Radio, reported that wrestlers from CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre) and STARDOM (World Wonder Ring STARDOM) are expected to participate in Forbidden Door 2024.



Bushiroad, the company owning NJPW, also holds ownership of STARDOM, creating a natural bridge for collaboration. Tony Khan, owner of AEW, has actively pursued partnerships with various promotions worldwide.

Meltzer's statement sheds light on the inclusion of STARDOM: "There will be STARDOM and CMLL wrestlers on the Forbidden Door show... So he [Taro Okada, STARDOM President] came in and that kind of explains that. Again, when Tony Khan tweeted those tweets about Rossy Ogawa [former STARDOM President], it was definite loyalty to STARDOM."

Further expanding the event, Meltzer also suggests STARDOM wrestlers like AZM and Mina Shirakawa might be part of the upcoming Ring of Honor (ROH) Supercard of Honor on April 5th.

This news follows the recent trend of integrating wrestlers from other promotions into AEW programming. CMLL wrestlers have appeared on AEW's shows throughout 2024, and Mina Shirakawa's recent match against Anna Jay at ROH tapings hints at similar opportunities for STARDOM talent.
