Dhanush's Tamil Movie 'Jagame Thandhiram' To Directly Premiere On OTT?

After almost a year, the happy days for the cinemas are finally returning at a rapid pace. The next 8 to 9 months are going to be as big as they were in the pre-covid era for the film industries. After a dull phase, the most awaited movies such as Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, RRR, KGF 2, Vakeel Saab, Pushpa, Radhe, along with many others are lined up to release in the upcoming months. ## However, there are still some movies that are swinging in between a theatrical and a direct-to-digital release. One of them is the superstar Dhanush starrer Tamil movie, Jagame Thandhiram. As per the latest buzz, the makers of 'Jagame Thandhiram' are keen to release the film directly on the OTT, though, Dhanush is not happy with the decision as he wants the movie to release in the theaters first. ## According to reports, Dhanush wants to follow the pattern of 'Master' which premiered on Amazon Prime Video after 16 days of its theatrical release. On the other hand, Netflix reportedly offered a fancy price to the makers to beg for the direct streaming rights of Jagame Thandhiram. ## Meanwhile, in one of the interviews recently, director Karthik Subbaraj was very confident about a theatrical release of the movie and even lauded producer, Sashikanth for patiently waiting for theaters to reopen. And now, the reports of the OTT release of the movie have really come as a shocker to Dhanush's fans. ## Talking about the film, Jagame Thandhiram is an action thriller directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Produced by S. Sashikanth, and Chakravarthy Ramachandra, the movie also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi and James Cosmo in lead roles, while Joju George and Kalaiyarasan portray supporting roles. Chennai, July 1, 2021: Sun Pictures stuck to the previous release date of superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe and re-confirmed that the movie will be hitting worldwide theaters on November 4, 2021, on the occasion of Diwali. Tamil Nadu Government Permits 100 Percent Seating Capacity In Theaters Ahead Of Master Release

A few days ago, Tamil superstar, Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and reportedly urged him to allow 100% seating capacity in the theaters for his upcoming movie, Master. And now, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a notification granting permission for 100% occupancy in theaters/cinemas which is nothing short of the best present for the team 'Master'. ## Earlier theatres in every state of India were allowed to operate only with 50% occupancy considering the covid-19 pandemic. The International Film festival of Kerala (IFFK) Will Be Held In February

The silver jubilee of The International Film festival of Kerala (IFFK) will be held from February 10 onwards in four places including Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Thalassery. The people who will participate in the festival will require Covid negative certificates and the delegate fee is reduced to Rs 750.## The festival will be inaugurated at Thiruvananthapuram on February 10 and will be conducted here from February 10 to 14 before moving to Ernakulam from February 17 to 21, From February 23 to 27 at Thalassery, and from March 1 to 5 at Palakkad.## This was announced by the state minister for culture AK Balan yesterday (Jan 1). He said that the film festival which was generally held in December each year has been postponed to February 10 owing to the Covid pandemic. Nearly 14,000 delegates used to attend the festival each year but owing to Covid-19, this won't be possible and hence, the festival will be conducted at four venues.## Speaking to media persons Balan said, "All the cultural festivals as part of the film festival are cancelled owing to the Covid pandemic. Meet the Director, Press meet, Master class and discussion with foreign guests will be conducted online".## He further said that IFFK will have competition section films, Malayalam cinema today, Indian cinema now, Kaleidoscope, Retrospective, and Homage sections. Four films will be screened in a theatre a day and five theaters will screen movies in each district. ## The Kerala State Chalachithra Academy who is the host of the festival will have antigen testing facilities at the venues in association with the state health ministry. '800' Controversy: Vijay Sethupathi Withdraws From Muthiah Muralidharan's Biopic

Actor Vijay Sethupathi has hinted that he is withdrawing from the former Sri Lankan cricketer, Muthiah Muralidharan's biopic, "800". Ever since the film has announced, several political parties and Tamil nationalist sympathizers along with many popular personalities from the Tamil film industry have claimed that the movie is an attempt to whitewash a figure who is problematic in Sri Lanka, and thus, they have been asking for a boycott of the film. ## In a statement on Monday, Muralidharan said he had asked Vijay Sethupathi to withdraw from the project to ensure the actor's career is not affected by the association. Muralitharan said that the film was facing hurdles as he had in many aspects of like. Producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the Tamil remake rights of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 2019 superhit movie Article 15. As per the latest update, the Tamil remake of this social crime drama film will be helmed by the director Arunraja Kamaraj. ## The Tamil remake of Article 15 marks the second directorial of lyricist-singer-actor Arunraja Kamaraj.
