Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2' To Get More Screens In Clash With 'Khel Khel Mein' and 'Vedaa'

Mumbai, July 16 - In one of the biggest box office clashes of the year, Shraddha Kapoor's highly-anticipated horror-comedy Stree 2 to battle it out with Akshay Kumar's comedy-drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's action drama Vedaa on August 15, Independence Day.## While a three-way clash is always a risky move, the makers of the respective films have already reportedly started blocking screens, confirming that they are in no mood to back out and let go of that lucrative date with a month to go for the release. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Stree 2 is running ahead to grab the maximum number of screens against Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa, due to being a highly anticipated movie and strong distribution team. Dharma Productions' Clarifies On The Rumours of 'Kill' Remake

Mumbai, July 16 - Producer Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has issued an official statement on the recent speculations about the remake rights of its action thriller Kill which is currently playing in theatres and doing decent business.## Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill was announced to be remade in Hollywood by John Wick director Chad Stahelski even before the film's official release in India on July 5. The action thriller, which will mark SRK's daughter Suahana Khan's big-screen debut, has been in the news since last year despite no official announcement from the makers yet. Now, as the movie is gearing up to commence shooting in the next few weeks, the makers are speeding up to lock the rest of the cast. According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Abhishek Bachchan has been locked in to play the antagonist role to take on Shah Rukh Khan in this big-scale action entertainer. Box Office: 'Sarfira' and 'Indian 2' First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 14 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira has a low first weekend at the domestic box office with a collection of around 12 crores net which is one of the lowest for the actor in many many years. ## Sarfira opened to poor numbers which proved to be fatal for the movie despite the good jump in the collection. On its first Sunday/third day, the movie scored an estimated 5-5.25 crores net, jumping around 20% from yesterday, for around 12 crores opening weekend. ## These are good collections for a non-star film but for someone like Akshay Kumar along with a top star cast, 12 crores weekend is disappointing. There is an appreciation for the movie but it hasn't been able to covert this into footfalls in large numbers. ## To have some sort of legs at the box office, Sarfira will have to beat the opening-day collection and try to come close to second-day figures of around 4 crores on its make-or-break first Monday. It, however, won't be easy due to competition and a proper working day. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) remained in the similar range as yesterday as estimates suggest the first Sunday collection around 1.30 crores net for approximately 3.80 crores opening weekend in Hindi which is very poor. ## The movie witnessed a drop of around 15% in the collection for all languages on its third Sunday for an estimated 17.50+ crores gross (15+ crores net). All India opening weekend of Indian 2 is around 69+ crores gross (59 crores net) which is underwhelming as there were huge expectations from the film. Mumbai, July 13 - After the low start, Akshay Kumar's Sarfira witnessed a jump of around 70% on its second day, however, the overall collection remains low due to the poor start which was one of the lowest for the actor in many many years.## According to the early estimates, Sarfira has earned in the range of 4-4.25 crores net on its first Saturday/second day, pushing the total to around 6.50+ crores net in 2 days which is poor collection. The movie needed to score a jump of over 100% today, although it still wouldn't be enough to make up for the lost ground it could have given the movie some sort of momentum. ## The word of mouth for the movie is positive but to say that it will make any positive difference to the overall collection is tough to guess because these kinds of films have been struggling to bring crowds to the theatres in large numbers after the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekend total is headed to finish around 12 crores net.## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) hasn't seen any growth today as estimates suggest the second-day collection of the dubbed version to be around 1.25 crores net, pushing the total to approx. 2.50 crores net in two days as opening weekend heading for around 4 crores net.## There was some drop in the collection of the Telugu version of the film as the first Saturday estimates for all versions of Indian 2 suggest the collection to be around 20 crores gross (17 crores net) for around 50 crores total domestic gross in two days. Box Office: 'Sarfira' and 'Indian 2' Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 12 - Akshay Kumar's drama film Sarfira takes a low start at the box office with poor occupancy throughout the day. The movie was expected to see some boost due to the positive reviews which don't seem happening as it opens in the range of Selfiee. ## Sarfira, directed by Sudha Kongara, has had pre-sales between Akshay Kumar's previous two low starters, Selfiee and Mission Raniganj which indicated a low start which turns out to be true as it scored an estimated 2.25-2.50 crores net opening day. ## The movie was always going to open in a similar range due to its remake status which has struggled in the post-COVID era, and its subject which doesn't have mass appeal. The initial word of mouth, however, seems to be positive which can come into play over the weekend but it will be hard for it to make up for the very low opening. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) also has a poor start which was expected due to negligible pre-sales. As per the early estimates, the movie is expected to open in the range of 1.25 crores net collection which might vary on either side when the actuals come. ## Indian 2, however, has a much better showing in all versions on its opening day as it is expected to score an estimated 25-26 crores net (30-31 crores gross) collection. The movie has opened on the expected lines with a slightly lower of the optimistic projections. ## In Tamil Nadu, it is expected to gross in the range of 13+ crores, followed by 9-10 crores in Telugu states which is a good collection. The rest of India gross of the movie is estimated to be around 8 crores, including around 4 crores in Karnataka. Box Office: Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, July 11 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira, a remake of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru, is finally hitting the big screens on July 12 after multiple delays and postponements. The movie is directed by Sudha Kongara who also directed the original movie starring Suriya. ## Sarfira has been the most anticipated new movie for the last couple of weeks, as per the IMDb's real-time popularity but the pre-sales response is telling a completely different story. The advance booking of Sarfira opened a couple of days ago but it has been progressing at a snail's pace and is not going anywhere. ## As of 4 PM on July 11, the pre-sales gross collection of Sarfira is only approximately 32 lakh with 15.6K sold for the opening day. With not much time left for the first show to start, the advance sales of the movie are heading for around 50+ lakh for the opening day which is very low. ## In comparison to the previous movies of Akshay, the pre-sales of Sarfira are trending a little above Selfiee which finished opening day sales at just around 40 lahks, and below Mission Raniganj (76 lakh gross), which are among the lowest for the actor in many years. Akshay Kumar To Play A Cameo Role In Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2': Report

Mumbai, July 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for the release of Sarfira on July 12, will reportedly play a cameo appearance in the highly-anticipated Shraddha Kapoor-starrer horror-comedy Stree 2, which will collide with his Khel Khel Mein on August 15. ## According to the report by Hindustan Times, a source revealed, "Yes it's true. Akshay has a cameo in the Rajkummar Rao - Shraddha Kapoor starrer. The makers felt his comedy timing is impeccable, and his presence even for a few minutes will elevate that particular sequence". ## Interestingly, Akshay's Khel Khel Mein is also a comedy entertainer and if the reports about him playing a cameo in Stree 2 are true, it will be a double bonanza for his fans who want to see him in comedy roles. It is, however, not revealed in which capacity the actor will play the cameo in the much-awaited sequel. ## Stree 2 is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios. Producer Ronnie Screwvala Hints At The Re-Release of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Swades'

Mumbai, July 9 - Over the last few months, many old classic Bollywood films have been re-released in theatres, giving a chance to movie lovers to revisit them on the big screen, and a few of the films even went on to do well at the box office. ## With cinephiles getting a chance to re-watch iconic films, there has been a frequent request from fans for Shah Rukh Khan's Swades to be re-released in theatres, and this might turn into a reality as per the latest development. ## In a recent interview with IndianToday.in, producer Ronnie Screwvala hinted that the 2004 film may get another chance on the big screen as he feels that the movie was ahead of its time and that it needs its second time around. ## Screwvala further added that Swades is an evergreen story and inspired a lot of people, and he also mentioned how the film represents the spirit and mood of the nation in today's time. Mumbai, July 9 - The anticipation for Akshay Kumar's drama film Sarfira is soaring as the release date is getting nearer. The movie, which is the remake of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru, is directed by Sudha Kongara who also directed the original title. ## Sarfira is the most anticipated new Indian movie on IMDb, much ahead of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 which is the sequel to acclaimed and successful film, Indian (1996). Director Aditya Dhar Locks Stellar Ensemble Cast For His Next With Ranveer Singh

Mumbai, July 7 - Director Aditya Dhar has been trying to set up his second directorial venture after delivering one of the biggest blockbusters in 2019 with URI: The Surgical Strike. The filmmaker has had difficulties in taking his next film on floors due to financial hurdles. ## Dhar was set to make the ambitious The Immortal Ashwatthama with Vicky Kaushal but due to its massive budget, it was shelved. The filmmaker then started on a new script, touted to be an action thriller and reportedly locked Ranveer Singh to headline it. Now, there is an update on the same. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, the movie has tentatively been titled Dhurandhar and Aditya Dhar has locked a stellar ensemble cast for the same. The report states that along with Ranveer Singh, the filmmaker has locked Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal to play pivotal roles. ## The report further said that although the actors are still not contractually signed, they are believed to have been creatively locked, and all other modalities are quickly being worked out. The movie is touted to be a fast-paced, mission-based action thriller.## Dhar will produce the film with his brother Lokesh Dhar under their banner B62 Studios, in partnership with a major studio as the movie will be made on a huge scale with a huge budget and will be shot in India and overseas.
