Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 3, which has been in the news ever since the second part was released in 2022. Director Abhishek Pathak returns to helm the third film, which has already commenced filming recently. Mumbai, December 22 - Telugu veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna's much-anticipated sequel Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, which was released amid a big hype in Telugu states, has failed to make any impact at the Hindi box office, turning out to be a massive disaster in the North Indian market. Despite strong pre-release hype in Telugu states and the success of the first Akhanda, the Hindi-dubbed version of the sequel was a non-starter and ended up as one of the biggest dubbed sequels. The film opened to extremely low numbers in Hindi circuits, with collections remaining negligible throughout its short theatrical run. The extremely positive word of mouth was always going to fuel more fire on Sunday with another growth. According to early trends, Dhurandhar scored 38-40 crores net on the third Sunday, finishing the third weekend with almost 100 crores net, at around 95 crores net, which is a record for any film in Hindi. The film collected 23.25 crore ($2.6 million) on its opening day, which is nearly half of what Avatar: The Way of Water earned on Day 1 in India in 2022. The film's opening day box office potential was cut short by Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which is currently dominating the box office. Fire & Ash needed a big jump on its second day to remain competitive. While the figures are well below the franchise's previous benchmark, the film did manage a decent growth of around 15% on Saturday, offering some relief.
