Mumbai, November 1 - National award-winning filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was working on his most ambitious project, titled Paani. Yash Raj Films was supposed to produce the film with Sushant Singh Rajput playing the lead role. ## The project came to light after the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput when Shekhar released the script of "Paani". It was put on the back burner after Yash Raj Films reportedly opted out. However, things now seem to be returning on track and the filmmaker is keen to revive the film. ## During a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Shekhar Kapur confirmed that he is in touch with producers to revive "Paani" and he is hopeful that the project will meet its sweet end. ## "Hopefully next year, but let's talk when everything is locked. It's a dramatic script about many relationships including a love story, and water is the key to the love story. It's a very spiritual story, for water is the key in every faith in the world", he said. ## Shekhar Kapur is currently focussing on the promotions of "What's Love Got to Do With It?" The movie is getting some amazing responses at the festivals, including the recent Rome Film Festival. It is a multicultural romantic-comedy film that stars Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson, Sajal Aly, Asim Chaudhry, Jeff Mirza, and Shabana Azmi, among others in key roles.## Stay tuned...

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, on Tuesday (April 13), took to Twitter and remembered late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The National Award filmmaker said that he misses discussing philosophy and physics with Sushant who had an incredibly agile mind. ## Kapur reacted to a fan reposting his past conversations with Sushant over Twitter. "There was a time when @shekharkapur and @itsSSR used to talk on Twitter," tweeted the fan, to which Kapur responded, "I miss exploring philosophy and physics with Sushant. Renowned filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur has been appointed as the President of Society of FTII & Chairman of the Governing Council of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) on Tuesday. ## Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday evening took to Twitter and wrote, "Happy to inform that renowned international film personality #ShekharKapur has been appointed as the President of FTII Society & Chairman of Governing Council of FTII".## "Mr. Kapur, who has a vast experience, will add more value to the Institute. Actor Kangana Ranaut has been very vocal about the discussion around nepotism, mental health, favoritism, and much ever since Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide which Kangana considers to be a murder by the powerful people in the industry. She also talked about how she was once threatened by Aditya Chopra to finish her career.## Speaking with Arnab Goswami for Republic TV, Kangana Ranaut said, "I am not saying that anyone wanted Sushant to die, but definitely ruined. These people are emotional vultures. They want to see people lynch themselves. Why is Mumbai Police not summoning the 'powerful four'.## Calling Sushant's death a murder by the powerful people of the industry, Kangana reveals why "I call it murder because I do feel abetment of suicide. According to section 306, it is as much of a criminal offense as physically killing one person. So for me, from day 1, I’ve been calling it murder".## While taking on Aditya Chopra, the actress opened up about the 'evil' contracts of big production houses. She said, "Their contracts are evil, you can't do anything without their permission. (Sanjay Leela) Bhansali wanted him for Ram-Leela, but Aditya Chopra did not allow him to do the film, so he made Ranveer Singh do the film. Bhansali has not chased any actor for five years, he wanted him for Bajirao Mastani, again Aditya Chopra did not let him do the film, why because Sushant did not know how to do 'chaplusi' (being a sycophant). They sabotaged his career".## Adding further, the 33-year old said, "YRF talent agency had been handling his work and prevented him from working with other directors and instead promised him a movie with a big director (Shekhar Kapur). She said, "The director came to my house and narrated the script. I had a meeting with Aditya Chopra… just so that I could express my apologies in person and he was fine at the time. But later a news piece came out saying 'Kangana said No to Sultan'. And then he messaged me, 'How dare you'! You say No to me'. And then he told me, 'You are finished'".## Recently, Kangana had said in her Instagram video that the outsiders do not get enough chances to prove themselves and prove their worth because of the nepotism, and favoritism in the industry.
