Mumbai, September 13 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's courtesy cameo in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's recently released Coolie seems to have backfired. The actor played a cameo role as Dahaa, a gangster, in the film, which didn't go as planned for him. While Aamir Khan called his cameo a big moment as he got to share screen space with Rajinikanth, the audience didn't resonate with this character, and called it one of the weakest parts of the film. Apart from the cameo, the Dangal star also confirmed a full-fledged superhero film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, which was supposed to start rolling next year. There have been reports that Aamir Khan's superhero film with Lokesh has been shelved after the criticism for his cameo in Coolie. Now, according to Bollywood Hungama, the duo has indeed parted ways, but the reason is not Coolie, but rather the script. "Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj have parted ways on their next film. The real reason the project was shelved is the script. While Aamir prefers to have the entire screenplay locked much in advance, Lokesh believes in the idea of having a draft in place and writing through the process of shooting," says the report. It is said that Aamir Khan wanted Lokesh to fully focus on the script as he believed that it had the scope to redefine Indian Cinema. However, the director insisted on following his own process of work, which didn't go well with the actor on the creative front, and decided to part ways on a good note with the intent of collaborating in the future. Mumbai, September 13 - The Indian box office witnessed an unexpected blockbuster this year in Mahavatar Narsimha in the genre, which was largely unexplored in Indian cinema - animation. The Ashwin Kumar directorial has now completed 50 days in cinemas with an unheard box office collection worldwide. Produced by Kaleem Production and presented by Hombale Films, Mahavatar Narsimha has struck a chord with audiences from day one, thanks to its mesmerising visuals and strong storytelling rooted in Indian epics. At a time when most films struggle to sustain even two weeks, the animated blockbuster not only survived but thrived, becoming a true blockbuster. Mahavatar Narsimha opened to decent but big enough for the genre before word of mouth showed its magic and took the things to the next level. The film has sustained remarkably well, week after week, and has continued its dream run with steady collections across mass circuits as well as urban centres. Chennai, September 12 - The Tamil cinema is bracing up for a major box office showdown on Pongal 2026 after Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited period political drama film Parashakti confirms indirect clash with Thalapathy Vijay's swan song Jana Nayagan. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parashakti is reportedly based on true events, revolving around the Anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu that happened in 1965. On Friday (September 12), the makers announced that this much-awaited movie will be hitting worldwide cinemas on January 14, 2026, coinciding with the Pongal festival. Produced by Dawn Pictures, Parashakti was initially supposed to be headlined by Suriya, who backed out for some reason. It has Sreeleela as the female lead, alongside Ravi Mohan, who plays the antagonist. The film also stars Rana Daggubati, Atharvaa, Basil Joseph, and others. Mumbai, September 12 - Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe has been one of the biggest crowd-pullers over the year. From Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, which shattered records back in 2012, to Shah Rukh Khan's record-breaking Pathaan, Spy Universe has proved its stamina in attracting audiences to theatres. However, just like a coin has two sides, Spy Universe too is showing the sign of fatigue after peaking with Pathaan in 2023. It has been over a decade since the franchise kicked off, but over the past few years, the cinema has evolved, which has started reflecting in the Spy Universe with the underperformance of Tiger 3 and War 2. It was one of the most-awaited films of the year, carrying the legacy of 2019's blockbuster War. Kantara: Chapter 1, the highly anticipated prequel to Rishab Shetty’s 2022 blockbuster Kantara, is officially slated for release on October 2, 2025, as confirmed by the filmmakers at Hombale Films, dismissing all delay rumors. Directed and headlined once again by Rishab Shetty, the film takes a bold mythological turn, exploring the spiritual and ancestral origins of the lore introduced in the original film, set around 300 CE during the Kadamba dynasty. ##Backed by a massive budget and shot on an epic scale—including war sequences featuring over 3,000 people and 500 skilled fighters—the project has undergone extensive preparation, with Shetty training in horse riding, Kalari, and sword-fighting. The buzz surrounding the film has been immense, amplified by a fiery promotional campaign, including a fire-themed logo unveiled in partnership with PVR INOX, and first-look posters of new characters like Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi and Gulshan Devaiah as Kulashekara. ##In a major musical collaboration, Diljit Dosanjh is set to record a special track for the film at YRF Studios, Mumbai, aimed at expanding the film’s North Indian appeal as part of its pan-India strategy.
