Mumbai, Dec 14, 2021: Netflix's India plans are changing — with the prices dropping significantly. Starting today, you will see savings from about 18 to 60 percent, depending on the Netflix plan you subscribe to. ## The Netflix “Mobile” plan, previously at Rs. 199 per month, has dropped 25 percent to Rs. 149 per month. The biggest savings are in store for the “Basic” Netflix plan — previously available at Rs. 499 per month, it will now cost just Rs. 199 per month in India. Going up the ladder, the “Standard” Netflix plan has been cut down from Rs. 649 per month to Rs. 499 per month. That's a 23 percent saving. That leaves the Netflix “Premium” plan, which goes from Rs. 799 per month to Rs. 649 per month. The four Netflix plans available in India have each dropped prices to the one below them, with “Mobile” occupying a new slot at Rs. 149. ## If you already have a Netflix subscription, you will be seamlessly upgraded to the higher plan starting today. The next time you log in, members will get a notification on their devices that asks them to Confirm Upgrade or choose a different plan if they so desire. For those on the top Netflix “Premium” plan, the change in pricing will come into effect from the next billing cycle. Mumbai, December 8 - Akshay Kumar-starrer "Sooryavanshi" is heading towards an Rs. 300 crores worldwide gross and it is turning out to be a mega success at the box office. The cop-drama was released exclusively in worldwide theaters on November 5 for the 28 days before it landed on Netflix on December 3. ## As expected, the Rohit Shetty-directed, after winning the box office battle, is now ruling Netflix's viewership charts at the global level. According to the data released by the streamer, "Sooryavanshi" was watched by 7.11 million viewing hours in the first three days, which helped it to break into the top 5 most-watched non-English titles on Netflix from November 29 - December 5 worldwide. ## The viewing hours will be increased as the week progresses and it might end up in the top 3 in the next week. Meanwhile, during the same week, Kartik Aaryan's thriller film "Dhamaka" was at number 9 with 2.35 million viewing hours. It was a direct Netflix release on November 19. ## "Sooryavanshi", meanwhile, is still going strong at the box office despite being available on Netflix. The movie has so far netted Rs. 193.85 crores at the Indian box office with an eye on a milestone figure of Rs. 200 crores. Mumbai, December 5 - Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor's stars shining bright at present as the Kabir Singh actor will be headlining at least 5 titles, including theatrical and OTT. One of the exciting projects he has is director Ali Abbas Zafar's action thriller, tentatively titled "Bloody Daddy", which is said to be adapted from the 2011 French film, Nuit Blanche. ## Shahid recently commenced the filming of "Bloody Daddy" in Abu Dhabi. While the actor is making his digital debut with Raj&DK's show on Amazon Prime Video next year, the feature film with Zafar will also reportedly be released on the OTT platform. Mumbai, December 1 - As Netflix's popular show "Money Heist" is gearing up for its finale with volume two of season 5 premiering on December 3, the streaming platform has already ordered a spin-off series on the show's popular character "Berlin". ## On November 30, the Money Heist cast attended a fan event. During the event, Netflix announced that Pedro Alonso will get a spin-off titled "Berlin: A New Series", which will premiere in 2023. Berlin is the undercover name for the character, otherwise called Andrés de Fonollosa in Money Heist. He is the elder brother of Sergio aka The Professor, played by actor Alvaro Morte. ## "It is a memorable moment because it is the end of one cycle and the beginning of another", Alonso said at the fan event. Mumbai, November 28 - South Korean web shows are making a huge roar on Netflix's viewership charts at the global level. After "Squid Game" became Netflix's biggest blockbuster show ever, the latest on the list is the supernatural horror series "Hellbound". ## The show, which is directed by Yeon Sang-Ho ("Train To Busan"), has taken Netflix's number 1 spot in the list of most-watched tv shows globally within a few days of release. Just like the viewers, the show has also taken the director Yeon by surprise as he is stunned by the response it is getting. ## The show also topped Netflix's official weekly chart for non-English TV programs with 43.5 million hours of viewing for the week from November 15-21, despite having only three days to count views. Speaking to media, Yeon said, "I was stunned after hearing the news that 'Hellbound' placed No. 1 on the global rankings table when I woke up the next morning. When I had discussed this project with Netflix, I thought I would be satisfied with a second-place finish on Korea's daily chart".## Based on the webtoon titled 'Hell', 'Hellbound', co-written and drawn by Yeon and Choi Kyu-sok, depicts social turmoil and unrest after a series of inexplicable supernatural phenomena. The smoky golem-like creatures believed to have come from hell, incinerate people who receive divine revelations about being punished, prompting an outbreak of public hysteria and religious zealotry.## The 6-episodes series features Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah, and Yang Ik-june in key roles. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds in leading roles, "Red Notice" is on track to become the most-watched film on the streamer in its first 28 days of release. ## Released on November 12 (Netflix), "Red Notice" broke into streamer's Top 10 Most Popular English Films of all time this past week, registering 277.9 million hours viewed. In just 11 days of release, it hit the 2nd spot on the Netflix chart and is about to surpass the current No. 1 holder, "Bird Box", which raked in 282 million hours viewed in its first 28 days. ## Netflix released the new data, which ranks its most popular titles based on viewing hours, as part of its revamped and expanded Top 10 lists. Netflix says the metrics will be audited by EY, with results to be released in 2022.## In the first 3 days of release (12-14 Nov.), "Red Notice" raked in 148.7 million hours viewed and was the number 1 movie in the first three days. From November 15 to November 21, it dropped to the 2nd spot and gained 129.1 million hours viewed. Mumbai, November 11 - Netflix's recently released South Korean show, "Squid Game" has taken the worldwide digital audiences by storm. The show has not only become the most viewed show on Netflix but also has been a monster hit on Youtube. ## According to the content analytics firm Vobile, "Squid Game" has dethroned HBO Max's "Game of Thrones" on Youtube, attracting a staggering 17 billion views across a spectrum of long- and short-form videos. "Game of Thrones", which had a decade to amass its fan army, has attracted 16.9 billion from 420,000 uploaded videos on Youtube. ## The viewership comes from numerous types of video content, including official trailers and clips from the series, fan recreations of iconic moments, real-world challenges inspired by the plot, and even narration of user-generated video games based on the property (found on services like Roblox). ## Vobile estimates that the 17 billion views for "Squid Game" have come from 129,000 uploaded videos, including traditional long-form YouTube clips and their recently-launched TikTok competitor YouTube Shorts. Mumbai, November 9 - The popular director duo, Abbas-Mustan is reportedly making a feature film that is inspired by Netflix's one of the most loved shows, "Money Heist". The feature film, which is said to be titled "Three Monkeys", will go on floors on November 11 in Mumbai and will be shot over the next few months. ## "The Abbas Mustan duo is getting back to the thriller space with Three Monkeys. The script work is done and the duo is currently all geared up to commence shooting from November 11", according to Pinkvilla. The report further said that the film is a robbery-based thriller on the lines of Money Heist. ## "It's actually on the lines of Money Heist with the premise revolving around three male protagonists and a professor, who is a mastermind of the robbery. The show has already been watched by over 130 million users worldwide, and it is by far the biggest show ever for streaming giant NETFLIX. ## The mega-success of the show has earned millions for Netflix. According to a Bloomberg report (via Business, Netflix will generate approx $900 million in value for the company from the show, which is 43 times higher than the show's production cost. The report revealed that "Squid Game" cost just $21.4 million to produce, at around $2.4 million an episode. This is cheaper than most of the other Netflix shows. ## Last week, Netflix revealed that Squid Game became its biggest series launch ever with 111 million views in less than four weeks. It surpassed the record holder, Bridgerton, which was seen by 82 million people. ## Internal Netflix documents seen by Bloomberg said the show generated $891 million in "impact value." That's the metric that Netflix, which operates a subscription model, uses to gauge the financial importance of shows. The report suggests that "Squid Game" will earn Netflix a large number of subscribers.## The streaming giant thinks 89% of people who started "Squid Game" watched at least 75 minutes, according to Bloomberg. Mumbai, October 11 - The covid-19 pandemic has heavily favored streaming platforms as people around the world have preferred to watch movies and shows in the comfort of their homes. It is the result that streaming platforms have seen a rapid rise in the number of subscribers in the last one and a half years as theaters were closed due to the pandemic. ## According to the latest forecast, Walt Disney's Disney+ will have the most number of paid subscribers by the end of 2025. Though Disney+'s speed has slowed up a bit in terms of gaining subscribers it is still one of the fastest-growing digital platforms, and now, analysts say the streamer will reach more subscribers than Netflix by 2025. ## Research firm Digital TV Research shared the prediction in a report (via THR), projecting that the number of subscribers to Disney+ would reach 284.2 million in 2026. Netflix will in 2026 have 270.7 million subscribers. In a February report, the firm had forecast that Disney+'s user base would surpass Netflix’s in 2026. The latest forecast is, however, down from 294M for Disney+ and 286M for Netflix from the earlier prediction. ## According to Digital TV Research, three platforms, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video "will control nearly half the world's SVOD subscriptions by 2026. Disney+ will be the biggest winner, overtaking Netflix in 2025. ## Disney+ will add 140 million subscribers between 2021 and 2026 to bring its total to 284 million. About 121 million of Disney+'s subscribers (43 percent of its total) in 2026 will be in the 13 Asian countries under the Hotstar brand. Amazon Prime will hit 243.4 million users in the said period.## The report further states that overall global subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) will increase by 491 million between 2021 and 2026 to reach 1.64 billion. Of them, China and the U.S. will account for 49 percent of the global total then. While both China and the U.S. had a similar number of subscriptions by the end-2020, China's growth will be slow due to government pressure. The real-life uncle and nephew, Venkatesh and Rana will be starring in a crime drama series "Rana Naidu", which is an official adaptation of the American crime drama Ray Donovan, for Netflix. ## This is the first time when the two actors with massive fan followings will be sharing screen space. "Rana Naidu" story will follow the life of Rana Naidu, a professional fixer for Bollywood and Mumbai's elite. It will be produced by Sunder Aaron of Locomotive Global Media LLP and directed by Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma. ## "It is completely different from what both of us have done in our careers so far.
