Kara Week 1 Box Office Collection: Struggles To Maintain Momentum; Nets 28.73 Cr In 7 Days
Kara has wrapped up its opening week on a relatively low note, failing to maintain the momentum it showed during its initial two days. On its seventh day, the film collected 1.58 crore net across India, which is a 21 percent decline from Tuesday's 2.00 crore. This brings the first-week total net collection to 28.73 crore, with the domestic gross standing at 33.14 crore. For a film that started with over 6 crore on its opening day, finishing the week under the 30 crore mark indicates a lukewarm response from the general audience.
The film's trajectory shows a clear struggle to sustain interest after the first Friday. While it peaked on its second day with 6.95 crore, the collections began to slide even on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a steep crash on Monday where it fell to 1.80 crore. Wednesday's performance confirms this downward trend. Language-wise, the Tamil version remains the only notable contributor with 1.11 crore from 2,217 shows on day 7, while the Telugu version added a minor 0.47 crore. Despite the wide release across Southern markets, the movie has found it difficult to generate significant footfalls beyond the opening weekend.
In terms of the overall language performance, the Tamil version has predictably led the way as the film's primary market. During the first week, it netted 23.26 crore while seeing an average occupancy of 24.6 percent, showing that the home audience provided the most consistent support. The Telugu version further supplemented the collections by contributing 5.47 crore net, with its average occupancy standing at 18.6 percent. By bringing these two together, the movie finished its seven-day domestic run with a net total of 28.73 crore.

PVR was the primary contributor among the three, grossing nearly 6.9 lakh, while INOX and Cinepolis followed with roughly 3 lakh and just over 1 lakh, respectively. With an average occupancy of less than 7% in these chains, the film is struggling to draw urban audiences as it moves into its second week.
On the global front, Kara has grossed a total of 10.25 crore in the overseas markets over its first week. This brings the worldwide gross collection to 43.29 crore. The international trend saw its peak on Saturday with 2.75 crore gross, followed by a gradual decline during the weekdays. The film overall seems to be heading towards an average lifetime total, especially if it manages to hold its screen count during the second weekend.

Digital interest on BookMyShow has also slowed down significantly following the opening weekend.
