Is Ranveer Singh's Pralay An Adaptation of Blindness? Hanshal Mehta Clears The Air

Mumbai, April 4 - After two back-to-back all-time blockbusters in the form of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2, the high-flying Ranveer Singh is gearing up to start his next film, titled Pralay. The actor is teaming up with Jai Mehta in his feature film directorial debut. Pralay is said to be a post-apocalyptic thriller, which is one of its kind in Indian cinema. However, over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that Pralay is an adaptation of José Saramago's 1995 novel, Blindness. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Amid the growing speculation, filmmaker Hanshal Mehta, who is the father of Jai, has dismissed the rumours and said that it is an original story that was developed by Jai with his co-writer Vishal Kapoor. Hanshal Mehta said that a novel like Blindness is not easily adapted to film. The senior filmmaker said that he had seen the 2008 film adaptation of Blindness (Julianne Moore Mark Ruffalo) and said that it wasn't a great one. In Blindness, the story is centred around a mysterious epidemic that causes widespread societal collapse.
