Los Angeles, October 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures' strategy of releasing its 2021 films day-and-date on HBO Max and in theaters is coming to haunt them big time. The Studio made it's one of the most ambitious films of 2021 "Dune" available on its streaming platform HBO Max a day before theatrical release.## However, Denis Villeneuve-directed couldn't prevent itself from hitting piracy as this epic sci-fi film leaked online in full HD quality a day before its American release. According to Variety, at least three major illegal streaming sites are hosting HD quality streaming copies of "Dune" in English, Danish, Spanish and Arabic subtitles.## Apart from leaking online, thousands of users are also hosting and sharing copies of the film on torrent sites, making it available easily to the users without getting paid. "Dune" isn't the only Hollywood blockbuster leaked online. The recently released "Black Widow" and Venom: Let There Be Carnage" had also succumbed to piracy. However, both "Black Widow" and "Venom 2" rarely leaked in high resolution unlike "Dune". ## "Black Widow" is said to be the most pirated Hollywood film ever. Just like "Dune", "Black Widow" had also been released on Disney+ and in theaters simultaneousouly. It grossed approx $380M worldwide and was also a big hit on Disney+. ## "Dune", however, despite leaking online in full HD prints, is not bothering Warner Bros. Pictures as reports say that the piracy is within normal studio expectations and it is also tracking to be half as much as other blockbusters in 2021. Meanwhile, according to a report from the Global Innovation Policy Center (via CNBC), the U.S. economy loses between $29.9 billion and $71 billion in revenue each year due to piracy.## Meanwhile, "Dune", which stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem, has already been released in the international market and earned approx $130 million so far. At domestic market, where it was released on October 22, is projected to earn between $30 million and 40 million in the 3-day opening weekend. Mumbai, October 20 - Amazon Prime Video has renewed Abhishek Bachchan-led "Breathe: Into The Shadows" web show for season 2. The new season will see Nithya Menen, Amit Sadh, and Saiyami Kher reprising their roles from the first season with Naveen Kasturia joining the cast in a lead role. ## "Given the popularity and sheer anticipation around Breathe: Into The Shadows, a new season was imminent. Known for playing different roles in his videos on Youtube, Bhuvan plays ten lead characters in the series, which is directed by Himank Gaur.## "Dhindora" is the first web series, in which Bhuvan plays the lead role. It was released on October 14 on his Youtube channel BB Ki Vines. The comedian is winning hearts for making the show on his own and playing different characters by himself. Mumbai, October 18 - The South Korean drama series "Squid Game" has taken the digital world by storm. The show has already been watched by over 130 million users worldwide, and it is by far the biggest show ever for streaming giant NETFLIX. ## The mega-success of the show has earned millions for Netflix. According to a Bloomberg report (via Business, Netflix will generate approx $900 million in value for the company from the show, which is 43 times higher than the show's production cost. The report revealed that "Squid Game" cost just $21.4 million to produce, at around $2.4 million an episode. This is cheaper than most of the other Netflix shows. ## Last week, Netflix revealed that Squid Game became its biggest series launch ever with 111 million views in less than four weeks. It surpassed the record holder, Bridgerton, which was seen by 82 million people. ## Internal Netflix documents seen by Bloomberg said the show generated $891 million in "impact value." That's the metric that Netflix, which operates a subscription model, uses to gauge the financial importance of shows. The report suggests that "Squid Game" will earn Netflix a large number of subscribers.## The streaming giant thinks 89% of people who started "Squid Game" watched at least 75 minutes, according to Bloomberg. It thinks 66% of viewers - or 87 million people - finished the series in the first 23 days of it being online. Mumbai, October 11 - The covid-19 pandemic has heavily favored streaming platforms as people around the world have preferred to watch movies and shows in the comfort of their homes. It is the result that streaming platforms have seen a rapid rise in the number of subscribers in the last one and a half years as theaters were closed due to the pandemic. ## According to the latest forecast, Walt Disney's Disney+ will have the most number of paid subscribers by the end of 2025. Though Disney+'s speed has slowed up a bit in terms of gaining subscribers it is still one of the fastest-growing digital platforms, and now, analysts say the streamer will reach more subscribers than Netflix by 2025. ## Research firm Digital TV Research shared the prediction in a report (via THR), projecting that the number of subscribers to Disney+ would reach 284.2 million in 2026. Netflix will in 2026 have 270.7 million subscribers. In a February report, the firm had forecast that Disney+'s user base would surpass Netflix’s in 2026. The latest forecast is, however, down from 294M for Disney+ and 286M for Netflix from the earlier prediction. ## According to Digital TV Research, three platforms, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video "will control nearly half the world's SVOD subscriptions by 2026. Disney+ will be the biggest winner, overtaking Netflix in 2025. ## Disney+ will add 140 million subscribers between 2021 and 2026 to bring its total to 284 million. About 121 million of Disney+'s subscribers (43 percent of its total) in 2026 will be in the 13 Asian countries under the Hotstar brand. Amazon Prime will hit 243.4 million users in the said period.## The report further states that overall global subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) will increase by 491 million between 2021 and 2026 to reach 1.64 billion. Of them, China and the U.S. will account for 49 percent of the global total then. While both China and the U.S. had a similar number of subscriptions by the end-2020, China's growth will be slow due to government pressure. China is expected to have 354 million subscribers by 2026 as compared to the U.S. forecast of 450 million users.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, October 1 - For more than a year now, Disney+Hotstar's Indian adaptation of the British mini-series The Night Manager, has been waiting to see the light of the tunnel. However, things are finally looking all settled and the streamer has reportedly roped in Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor to lead this big-budget series. ## Earlier, the spy drama series was supposed to be headlined by the Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and he was reportedly paid a whopping 75 crores for the same. However, just before the series was set to go on floors, Hrithik walked out of the project, and it was put on hold indefinitely. It is reported that Roshan was not comfortable with the long schedules and decided to walk out. ## And now, amid the uncertainty over the project, The Night Manager Indian adaptation is reportedly back on track and will be headlined by the Malang actors. Aditya Roy Kapur is said to be stepping into the shoes of Tom Hiddleston and play the role of a luxury hotel night manager and former Indian soldier while Anil Kapoor will reprise Hugh Laurie's role of an arms dealer who disguises himself to be a business tycoon.## The series will be produced by Preity Zinta in association with Banijay Asia while Sandeep Modi who co-directed Ram Madhvani's Emmay Awards nominated Aarya has been brought on board to direct this six-part. However, among the slate of films, Akshay Kumar's "Atrangi Re" has yet to get a release date. ## While many are wondering why the makers haven't announced the theatrical release date of "Atrangi Re", which is ready for a long time now, it has now been revealed that the makers of the film might be opting for a direct-to-digital release via Netflix. It is produced by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films.## Akshay Kumar too had hinted about the direct OTT release of "Atrangi Re" in a chat with Hindustan Times. "To be honest, I haven't yet included Atrangi Re in the list because we are still mulling over whether it should be a theatrical film or an OTT release. And OTT may simply be the medium of choice for Atrangi Re, as it looks right now", said Akshay. ## Directed by Anand L Rai, the film also stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. The studio behind most of the fan-favorite comic book superheroes, leaving no stone unturned to make up for the dull pandemic year with nine titles currently announced to premiere in theaters and on Disney Plus in 2021. ## Among the nine Marvel titles in 2021, six have already been released either in theaters or Disney+. Initially, the studio planned to release 10 titles, but following a number of unexpected 2021 premieres across the platform, Marvel has now pushed its one of the most anticipated Disney Plus shows, "Ms. Marvel". ## Marvel's first Muslim lead character and one of the newest characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) gets her own Disney Plus show, with newcomer Iman Vellani in the title role as Ms. Marvel, also known as 16-year-old Pakistani-American Kamala Khan, who has a particular fondness for Captain Marvel. ## Kevin Feige headed studio had initially announced the late 2021 premiere date for "Ms. Marvel", but now postponed it to 2022 after so many shows and movies took over the calendar in 2021. No exact release date has been confirmed, but Ms. Marvel's exciting premise is enough to keep the excitement building for now.## Created by Bisha K. Across 11 categories, there are 44 nominees announced from a number of 24 countries. ## Among the Indian nominees, supremely talented, Nawazuddin Siddique, has been nominated in the Best Actor category for his Netflix film "Serious Man". It is a satirical comedy-drama film based on Manu Joseph's book of the same name.## The story follows Ayyan Mani, a middle-aged man working as an assistant to an astronomer at the National Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. Furious at his situation in life, Ayyan develops an outrageous story that his 10-year-old son is a science genius—a lie which later gets out of control. ## Apart from Siddique, actor comedian Vir Das gets nominations in the Comedy category for his special show "Vir Das: For India" on Netflix. Written and co-directed by Das, the comedian celebrates the history of India with his one-of-a-kind perspective in the show. ## Moving from the individual category, Sushmita Sen fronted crime drama web series on Disney+Hotstar, "Aarya" has been nominated in the Best Drama Series category.
