Bengaluru, September 23 - Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeepa's action-adventure thriller film Vikrant Rona has been receiving a thundering response on ZEE5. The movie started premiering digitally on September 2 after becoming a box office hit, grossing over 100 crores worldwide. ## After its successful outing at the box office, "Vikrant Rona" continued its good run on the streaming platform as well as it has crossed 1000 million or 100 crores viewing minutes on ZEE5, announced the makers. Kichcha Sudeepa took to Twitter and thanked the audience for the overwhelming response to the movie.## Directed by Anup Bhandari, the story of the movie revolves around a remote village in the middle of tropical rainforest which starts witnessing a series of unexplainable events which are attributed to the supernatural. ## Sudeepa plays the title role of Inspector Vikrant Rona along with Nirup Bhandari, Neetha Ashok, and Jacqueline Fernandez in key roles. The movie is produced by Jack Manjunath under the banner Shalini Arts and Alankar Pandian. Mumbai, September 22 - Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar's drama film Jogi, which is based on 1984's anti-Sikh riots, has been released on Netflix and is being appreciated by the audience. ## The movie starring Diljit Dosanjh in the title role scored 3.08 million viewing hours on the opening weekend (Sept. 16 - 18) and was the 7th most watched non-English film worldwide during the week on Netflix. The film is expected to score higher numbers in the ongoing week as reviews are super positive for this one. ## "Jogi" is set in Delhi's eastside neighborhood of Trilokpuri, and depicts a three-day period in the immediate aftermath of the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 31 October 1984. Diljit Dosanjh called these riots genocide in a recent interview with PTI.## Meanwhile, among the other most-watched Indian films on Netflix, John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor's Ek Villain Returns remained in the top 5 for the second consecutive week. Los Angeles, September 21 - HBO Max's season 1 of the House of the Dragon is a smash hit and breaking records with each passing episode. ## The Game of Thrones prequel series has been such a hit that episode 5 attracted 3% more viewers than Episode 4 in the USA, according to Variety. The website has reported that season 1 of the series is averaging a mammoth 29 million viewers per episode across its first five episodes. ## "House of the Dragon" is showing the sign of going the "Game of Thrones" way, which averaged more than 44 million viewers per episode for its eighth and final season in 2019. ## According to Nielsen (via Variety), 2.576 million people tuned into the 5th episode on HBO itself, a 4% increase when compared to last week's 2.474 million cable viewers. ## The show, "House of the Dragon", is the biggest series premiere ever for HBO Max after the first episode was watched by nearly 10 million people across all platforms. The series has already been greenlit for the second season after the unprecedented response. ## The show will see a narrative and casting shift after the 5th episode, as Episode 6 will mark a major time jump. Los Angeles, September 13 - Netflix's sci-fi horror drama series, Stanger Things has been a smash hit worldwide and is getting ready for its fifth and final season, which is currently in the writing stage. Meanwhile, Netflix is planning to follow in the footsteps of MCU regarding Stranger Things. ## Series executive producer and director Shawn Levy said that he working on the idea of creating a Stranger Things Cinematic Universe (STCU). ## "Yes, we are building out the STCU, and now that I'm spending time with Kevin Feige, I'm learning a lot about how to manage a universe", Levy said in an interview with Variety. "So I'm taking those skills and applying them to the STCU". ## ICYDK, Levy has been hired to direct the next installment in the Deadpool franchise and has been working with Marvel boss Kevin Feige on the upcoming movie. He was asked if there could be a crossover between the residents of Hawkins and Wade Wilson aka the Deadpool.## "Funnily enough, (Deadpool" star Ryan (Reynolds) and I were trying to figure out how in the world could we do a 'Deadpool' - 'Stranger Things' crossover", he said. Mumbai, September 10 - Disney+ Hotstar, the video streaming platform owned by Walt Disney, has announced the adaptation of the epic Mahabharata at the D23 Expo. Mumbai, September 4 - Akshay Kumar-fronted psychological crime thriller film Cuttputlli, directed by Ranjit M. Tewari, has the number 1 movie on Disney Plus Hotstar, according to Pooja Entertainment. It is a remake of the 2018 Tamil film "Ratsasan" and stars Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, Joshua LeClair, Chandrachur Singh, and Sargun Mehta in key roles. ## "Cuttputlli" was released directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 2 after the makers decided to forgo a theatrical release for the movie. This move seems to have paid off as it is trending at the top since the first day across the country, however, Disney hasn't revealed the viewership numbers to claim the fact. ## The film is about an aspiring filmmaker who becomes a police officer after his father's death and investigates the murder of school girls. It reunites Akshay Kumar with his "Bell Bottom" team including director Tewari and producer Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh of Pooja Entertainment. ## Meanwhile, Akshay will next be seen in magnum opus "Ram Setu", which is scheduled to release on Diwali 2022. Los Angeles, September 4 - Amazon Prime Video's mega series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has shattered all-time premiere viewership records for the streamer. The series is hailed as visual wonder and very rightly so, it has delivered big time for Amazon. ## The first two episodes of the series were launched on September 2 across the globe in 240 counties and territories, and it has clicked a whopping 25 million views on its opening day, according to the company (via Deadline). This is the biggest ever premiere in Prime Video's 15 years of history. ## "It is somehow fitting that Tolkien's stories – among the most popular of all time, and what many consider to be the true origin of the fantasy genre – have led us to this proud moment", said Amazon Studios boss Jennifer Salke. ## "I am so grateful to the Tolkien Estate – and to our showrunners J.D. The action thriller is already the highest-grossing film of the year and Cruise's career, and now, it has broken the record upon its digital release. ## According to Paramount Home Entertainment (via Variety), "Top Gun Maverick" has become the best-selling digital movie in its first week of availability in the USA. The movie was released on digital on August 23, 2022, also is already one of the top 20 best-selling digital releases in history after being available for one week. The company, however, didn't disclose its digital sales number. ## Variety reports that the digital release of the film was the top-selling item on Amazon in the U.S. across every category on the day of its release. Los Angeles, September 2 - Amazon Prime Video's fantasy television series based on the novel The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power has dropped the first two episodes worldwide. Unsurprisingly, the series has been hailed as a visual wonder, thanks to the thousands of VFX shots from multiple VFX Studios. ## According to Variety, over 20 visual effects studios and 1500 visual effects artists across the globe came together to deliver Amazon's mega-series. Companies such as Industrial Light & Magic, Weta FX, and DNEG provided close to 10,000 VFX shots to revive middle-earth in the best possible manner. ## The series is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ring. It begins during a time of relative peace and covers all the major events of Middle-earth's Second Age: the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men. These events take place over thousands of years in Tolkien's original stories but are condensed for the series. ## "The Rings of Power" is made for the streamer but the series has been designed to play like a theatrical experience. VFX producer Ron Ames said, "Our target was the 65-inch screen at home, but we made it so that it would play technically beautifully in everything up to an IMAX screen. It is finished to a theatrical resolution". ## "LOTR: The Rings of Power" is the costliest television series ever. Amazon Prime bought the television rights for the series for a whopping US$250 million in November 2017, making a five-season production commitment worth at least US$1 billion. Mumbai, August 29 - Alia Bhatt-fronted dark comedy Darlings continues to score big on Netflix and now, it has become the most-watched Indian original Netflix film of all time, according to the streamer. ## Directed by Jasmeet K. Reen in her debut, "Darlings" was released on August 5 and since then it has been trending in the top 10. According to Netflix, the movie has been watched for 30 million hours, which is a record for an Indian original Netflix film. ## Netflix also revealed that "Darlings" trended in the top 10 in 28 countries in the first three weeks. Alia Bhatt produced the film under the banner Eternal Sunshine Productions in association with Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment.
