Charlotte Flair has revealed the one match she believes changed the trajectory of her WWE career. Flair, who has gone on to become one of WWE’s most decorated women’s wrestlers, pointed to her 2014 NXT TakeOver match against Natalya as the performance that finally made fans take her seriously as a wrestler. “If that match hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t be here today,” Flair said. The match, which took place at NXT TakeOver in 2014, saw Flair defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Natalya. Looking back, Flair believes the significance of the bout went far beyond the championship itself. “Were they going with me? But I don’t know if it was more like, okay, she’s easily the brand for whatever we need Flare’s kid. We’re bringing in Ric. We’re bringing in Bret,” Flair explained. “But like in that moment, if you go back and watch that match, no one like gave a shit about my dad and Bret. And it was like so raw, so authentic.” Flair also highlighted how unusual the match was for WWE television at the time, noting that it was the longest match the company had produced or televised up to that point. “I go back and watch that match and I still think like out of a lot of my matches to this day, that one still is timeless and a classic,” she said. Most importantly, Flair believes the performance proved that she could stand on her own rather than simply being viewed as Ric Flair’s daughter. “But had that match not happened, I don’t think people would have taken me serious,” Flair said. “I don’t think it would have given it launched everything. Like you know when you have defining moments, I’d say that was a defining moment.” Flair also named her WrestleMania 32 match and her bout against Asuka as other important moments in her career, but the Natalya match remains particularly significant to her. Despite everything she has accomplished since then, Flair does not believe her best match has happened yet. “Someone asked me, ‘What do you think is your greatest match of all time?’ And I’m like, ‘It hasn’t happened yet,’” Flair said.

Green admitted she assumed nerves would take over once the moment finally arrived. "I thought I would be nervous when this moment came," she said, "I thought I would be so nervous." Instead, she said she felt unusually calm walking to the ring: "I felt very at peace. I was like, whatever happens, happens." "It was even better than I had dreamt of," she said, adding that for years she'd quietly accepted the title shot might never come. "It was so far-fetched," she said. "I hope this happens. I wish it would happen, but like it probably won't — and I've come to terms with that, too." "I heard it all," Green said, "and I was actually upside down and a referee was ... saying sweet nothings to me as I was upside down." She added that she still doesn't know which referee it was, but praised the encouragement referees give wrestlers mid-match, calling it a meaningful and often overlooked part of the business. Even hours later and running on no sleep, Green said she was determined not to let the feeling slip away. "I'm still on cloud nine. I'm riding a high," she said. "I'm trying to make the most out of every single second."

She now most recently defeated Becky Lynch to retain the Women's World Championship. ## In her post-match press conference at WrestleMania XL, Rhea Ripley addressed the future of the Four Horsewomen era following her victory over Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. ## "You know, the Four Horsemen Era, it will live on forever. They accomplished so much. They took the women's division to heights that we could have only dreamt of. They've done so much for the business and I have all the respect for every single one of them. I feel like the way that I've been going WrestleMania after WrestleMania finally knocking off the Horsewoman and the same as Bianca Belair. She's been doing the same. ## We've been proving that there is a shift coming and these new women they are taking over and we're showing out with trying to take it to higher heights that it has been taken to. Obviously, for those women, they're amazing at what they do, and we don't want them to leave but they're going to have to move over, because we're taking over at the same time." ## While the group hasn't officially been together for some time, their influence continues to be felt. As of April 2024, three of the Four Horsewomen – Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bayley – are still with WWE. Sasha Banks, however, recently left the company.
