Raja Shivaji Week 1 Box Office Collection: Film Makes History as First Marathi Movie to Cross 50 Cr Net in Opening Week

Raja Shivaji has rewritten the record books for Marathi cinema, setting a benchmark that will be hard to surpass. The film has officially become the first Marathi production to cross the 50 Crore net mark within its opening week alone. By the end of its seventh day, the movie stands at 52.65 Crore India net, signaling a historic level of audience engagement for a regional project that successfully transitioned into a pan-India release.

If we analyze the daily performance, the film showed immense strength during its initial weekend and managed a very respectable hold during the weekdays. On Day 7, the movie collected 4.00 Crore, which is only a marginal 5.9 percent drop from the previous day. This stability is quite impressive given the high volume of shows it is running. Over the first seven days, the film was screened across a total of 40,615 shows, maintaining a healthy average weekly occupancy of approximately 24.4 percent. The highest engagement was seen on the first Sunday, where occupancy peaked at 36.4 percent.

The ticket sales data reflects a massive surge in ground-level interest. On BookMyShow, the film sold a total of 1,439,340 tickets during its first week, which includes 217K pre-sales. The momentum stayed high throughout the week, with Saturday and Sunday accounting for over half a million tickets alone. Even on Thursday, the platform saw 96.65K bookings, showing that the interest is not just limited to the opening days. Furthermore, the national cinema chains contributed significantly to this success, with 296,084 tickets sold across major multiplexes during the week.

A key factor in this historic run is the dual-language performance. While the Marathi version led the way with a net of 36.25 Crore, the Hindi version also found significant traction, contributing 16.40 Crore to the total India net. On Day 7 specifically, the Marathi version earned 2.75 Crore with 25 percent occupancy, while the Hindi version added 1.25 Crore. This broad appeal has allowed the film to tap into markets outside of Maharashtra, providing the volume needed to hit such high numbers.

Currently, the total India gross for Raja Shivaji stands at 62.42 Crore. With no overseas collections reported so far, the worldwide gross matches the domestic total. Reaching a 50 Crore net in just seven days is a watershed moment for the industry, especially considering that the previous records for Marathi opening weeks were in the 11 to 12 Crore range. As the film enters its second weekend with over 6,000 shows still running, it is well-positioned to continue its record-breaking journey at the box office.
