Directed by Geethu Monhandas, Toxic was slated to clash with Dhurandhar 2 on March 19, and the trade was on the edge, imagining the possible reciprocation of it. But with the postponement of the film to June, the highly anticipated clash has been averted. It is the first film of Yash after the all-time blockbuster, KGF: Chapter 2 (2022).

Yash's Toxic Postponed Amid Ongoing War In The Middle East; New Date Locked

Bengaluru, March 4 - The makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, starring Rocking Star Yash, have officially announced the postponement of the film's theatrical release. The big-budget pan-Indian project, which was scheduled to hit cinemas on March 19, has now been deferred due to the prevailing geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

In an official statement released by the production houses, the team revealed that Toxic was conceptualised as a global cinematic experience, filmed in both Kannada and English, with the intent of reaching audiences worldwide. However, the ongoing uncertainty caused by the war in the Gulf region has impacted distribution plans and the film's ability to connect with the widest possible international audience.

The statement further clarified that after years of dedicated effort and careful consideration of partners, exhibitors, and viewers across markets, the makers took the difficult decision to reschedule the release. They emphasised that the move was made in the best interest of ensuring a smooth and truly global theatrical rollout.

With this, the film's high-profile clash with Dhurandhar 2 has also been averted. The makers have now locked June 4, 2026, as the new worldwide release date for Toxic in English and multiple Indian languages. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is produced by KVN Productions in association with Monster Mind Creations.

With Yash returning to the big screen after KGF Chapter 2, expectations remain sky-high, and the team has assured fans that the wait will be worth it as they aim to deliver a cinematic experience on a truly international scale. It also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Akshay Oberoi, among others, in key roles.

All Is Not Well Between Rishab Shetty and The Kantara Chapter 1 Team?

BY SACNILK

Bengaluru, March 28 - All is not seem to be well between the Kantara: Chapter 1 team and actor Rishab Shetty, whose recent Instagram activities have ignited a wave of speculations among fans. Released last year, the film was a huge hit, grossing over 800 crores worldwide, and became one of the highest-grossing films of 2025. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that things are not good between the makers. According to reports, Rishab Shetty recently unfollowed the Kantara production house, Hombale Films, on Instagram, even though he continues to follow the studio head, Vijay Kiragandur. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Now, the actor has also allegedly unfollowed Kantara: Chapter 1 actress Rukmini Vasanth on the platform. While there is no official confirmation out yet, the recent social media activities hint that all is now well between them. However, it is worth mentioning that there are no such reports of misconduct on the film's set and outside it. About Kantara: Chapter 1 Film Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is the prequel to the 2022 film Kantara. The story delves deeper into the origins of the tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film. Despite the release of the predecessor, this film is considered to be the first chapter of the franchise. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film stars Rishab Shetty in four roles as Berme, Mayakara, Annappa and Kaadubettu Shiva, along with Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah. It is the second-highest-grossing Kannada movie of all-time, with the worldwide gross collection of 852 crores, which is more than 2x of the first film, which itself is a massive blockbuster. We are no longer just looking at box office collections but at the sheer volume of humanity moving toward the big screens. In a market where crossing the 5 million ticket mark in a week is considered a massive achievement, the Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge has effectively entered a stratosphere of its own by breaching the 11 million mark with ease, becoming the second-highest of all time. This massive volume of sales places the film firmly behind the monstrous 12.53 million tickets sold by Pushpa 2 The Rule. The gap between these two titans and the rest of the industry is becoming a significant talking point among the trade fraternity. For context, legendary runs like Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD, which were considered massive during their runs, now find themselves trailing behind this new era of dominance. Dhurandhar 2 is not just a success story; it is a total demolition of the previous theatrical footprints established by some of the biggest global blockbusters. While Pushpa 2 leads in volume with a staggering 725.8 crore net, Dhurandhar 2 shows a very high efficiency in revenue per ticket, clocking in 674.17 crore in its 8-day extended week. This highlights the massive demand in premium multiplexes where ticket pricing plays a major role. Even huge blockbusters like Jawan, which raked in 389.88 crore from 7.65 million tickets, now look modest in comparison to the sheer scale of the Dhurandhar 2 juggernaut. The trend shows that the audience is now gravitating toward event-scale cinema like never before. The fact that Dhurandhar 2 has managed to sell 11.33 million tickets despite a highly competitive market speaks volumes about the brand loyalty of the franchise. It has officially set a new gold standard for theatrical resilience. With the second weekend approaching, the momentum suggests that these ticket volumes will continue to swell, setting benchmarks that might remain untouched for years. All eyes are now on this unstoppable force to see if it can eventually rewrite the record books for lifetime footfalls in the history of Indian cinema..

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has officially secured its position among the elite performers in Indian cinema history following its explosive theatrical release. The film recorded a peak hourly ticket sale of 73.92K on BookMyShow, making it the eighth-highest hourly performer when excluding pre-sale focused data from other upcoming releases. This momentum highlights the strong audience pull of the sequel, which is currently trending with immense intensity across the country. While the first installment of the franchise had previously set a high benchmark of 77K tickets per hour, the sequel is maintaining a consistent pace that suggests a long and successful theatrical run. The record for the highest hourly sales in the history of the platform is currently held by Pushpa 2: The Rule, which achieved a staggering peak of 107.65K tickets in a single hour. This is followed by the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, which saw a peak of 95.71K tickets, surpassing previous records held by major Bollywood blockbusters. Other top performers in this prestigious list include Kantara Chapter 1 with 87.9K tickets and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which recorded 86K tickets during its peak period. The top five is rounded off by the Tamil blockbuster Leo, which achieved 82.4K tickets per hour, showcasing the massive pan-India demand for high-budget action cinema. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Further down the list, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal remains a strong contender with a peak of 80.15K hourly sales, reflecting its massive footfalls and historical status on the platform. Following Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge at the eighth spot is Border 2, which has shown incredible demand with a peak of 72K tickets per hour. The tenth spot is currently occupied by the horror-comedy Stree 2, which recorded 69.23K tickets. The inclusion of Dhurandhar 2 in this list is a testament to the franchise's growth and the audience's appetite for high-stakes intelligence thrillers in the current market. The current intensity of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge points toward a potential entry into the elite 1000 crore net club. By combining high-quality filmmaking with a story that appeals to everyone, the movie is seeing an incredible response from the public, which is causing tickets to sell at a record-breaking speed on online booking platforms. As the movie continues to dominate the ticket windows, these steady sales show it will likely stay popular for many weeks to come. It has the potential to match the total earnings of other massive hit films, and it will be interesting to see if it can eventually overtake the huge record set by Pushpa 2.

Indian Box Office Hit Record 13,000 Crore Plus In 2025; Dhurandhar Led The Charge

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, January 16 - The Indian box office hit a new peak with record-breaking business of 13,350 crores from over 1500 movies in 2025, as per Sacnilk's estimated data. This was also the first time that domestic grosses crossed 13K crore, beating the previous record of 11,500 crores in 2023, a year which saw the comeback of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Bollywood led the charge once again with nearly 5600 crores gross collection, which is around 40% of the total domestic box office collection. The Hindi cinema has recovered from the Covid dent; however, the low to mid-range films are still struggling to find an audience, even though some of the films in this category exceeded expectations. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Jio Studios and B62 Studios' Dhurandhar was the biggest domestic grosser with over 975 crores gross, followed by Kantara Chapter 1 and Chhaava. The spy action thriller also became the biggest Hindi grosser of all-time, beating Pushpa 2, which grossed around 965 crores. The four South Indian industries captured the 47% of the market share, with Malayalam cinema recording its biggest year and showing the most significant growth of its history. It was a forgettable year for Punjabi and Bengali cinema, while the Gujarati industry hit a new milestone with 250 crores, thanks to the all-time blockbuster movie, Laalo, which became the first film from the language to hit 100 crores gross. Among all the films released in 2025, three films managed to cross 500 crores gross, while 37 titles topped 100 crores gross at the Indian box office. However, despite the record-breaking year, some of the high-profile releases disappointed, which indicates the audience is no longer interested in star-driven and forced franchise releases. Year Ender 2025: The Genre Gamble From High Octane Action to Cultural Roots, Analyzing the Year's Ultimate Winners

BY SACNILK

The numbers are in, and 2025 has officially rewritten the rules of Indian Cinema. For the first nine months, the verdict was clear: the audience had brutally rejected expensive mediocrity and embraced films with a soul. The Roots & Period genre was the undisputed king—until the year-end arrived. Just when the trade had written off the Spy/Action template, Dhurandhar exploded onto the scene, proving that the Genre Gamble isn't about the category, but the conviction. The 2025 report card shows a fascinating battle. On one side, Roots & Period Cinema generated nearly ₹2000 Crores combined. On the other, the Action Genre saw the most violent fluctuations—from the disastrous crashes of the Spy Universe to the historic, record-shattering run of Dhurandhar. THE SPY-ACTION For most of 2025, the Action genre was in a state of mourning as the catastrophic crash of the Spy/Cop template—symbolized by the failure of War 2 —served as a brutal wake-up call to the industry. While War 2 managed a global gross of ₹364 Crore, it ultimately stood as a commercial underperformer against its massive ₹400 Cr+ budget, further confirmed that the standard template was rapidly losing steam. However, the arrival of Dhurandhar single-handedly salvaged the genre's reputation; as of Day 21, bolstered by a strong third Thursday early estimate of ₹26.00 Cr, the film has reached an All-Time Blockbuster status with a towering India Net of ₹633.5 Cr and a Worldwide Gross of ₹985 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) By decimating the records of global hits like Coolie (₹518 Crore worldwide) and outshining underperformers such as Sikandar (₹184 Cr) and Sky Force (₹150 Cr), Dhurandhar—with its massive (₹215 Cr) overseas haul—has proved that Action remains the undisputed highest-grossing genre when a high-stakes narrative is backed by a genuine emotional pulse. THE ROOTS & PERIOD CINEMA: While Dhurandhar took the individual #1 spot, the Roots & Period genre was the most consistent winner of the year. Kantara: Chapter 1 ruled the global charts for months with a staggering ₹852 Crore, proving that folklore is a global currency. In the Hindi belt, the real movement was Chhaava. Vicky Kaushal's historical epic roared with ₹586 Crore Net in Hindi (₹601.54 Cr All Lang). It sustained a majestic 6-week run, proving that cultural pride is the new gold standard. Regional hits like Mirai (₹144 Cr) and Kesari Chapter 2 (₹145 Cr) further cemented this genre as the safest bet for investors in 2025. THE ROMANCE RESURRECTION: In the most shocking turnaround of the decade, the Romantic Drama genre delivered 2025's biggest surprise: Saiyaara. Shattering all theatrically dead labels, the film amassed a global gross of ₹570 Crore (₹330 Cr Hindi Net). It single-handedly outperformed action juggernauts like War 2 and Sikandar, proving that when music and chemistry click, a traditional romance can still deliver Animal-level numbers. While mid-range films like De De Pyaar De 2 (₹111 Cr) were average, Saiyaara remains the Dark Horse of the year. FRANCHISE COMEDY & HORROR-COMEDY: THE PROFIT PLAY While they didn't hit the 500-crore mark, Comedy was the most profitable genre due to controlled budgets. Housefull 5: ₹289 Crore (Solid Resilience) Sitaare Zameen Par: ₹268 Crore (Emotional Dramedy Hit) Thama: ₹188 Crore (Horror-Comedy Success) Jolly LLB 3: ₹172 Cr (High ROI) Lokah: Chapter 1: ₹304 Crore (Massive South Blockbuster; ₹4 Cr Hindi) 2025 was the year the Genre Gamble was won by Conviction. Whether it was the Maratha valor of Chhaava, the divine folklore of Kantara, the soulful melody of Saiyaara, or the relentless pace of Dhurandhar, the winners were films that stayed true to their promise.

Top 10 Highest-Grossing Indian Films of 2025 At The Worldwide Box Office

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, December 26 - Director Aditya Dhar's spy action thriller Dhurandhar is set to conclude 2025 as the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film has emerged as one of the biggest Indian blockbusters in recent times, with its rock-solid daily collections continuing to leave both trade and the industry stunned. Dhurandhar is marching towards the coveted 1000-crore milestone at the worldwide box office and shows no signs of slowing down. The film is expected to breach the landmark by its fourth Friday, making it the first Indian film of 2025 and the ninth of all time to enter the elite club. Given the current trends, the spy thriller is likely to end its theatrical run with a staggering lifetime total of over 1200 crores globally. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The second-biggest grosser of the year is Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1, the much-anticipated prequel to his 2022 blockbuster Kantara. The period folk action drama enjoyed a phenomenal run at the box office earlier this year, grossing over 850 crores worldwide. Notably, the prequel earned more than double the lifetime collection of the original film, which had amassed 408 crores during its release. Vicky Kaushal's historical action drama Chhaava, which released in February, secures the third position among the biggest Indian grossers of 2025 with a worldwide collection exceeding 800 crores. The film turned out to be one of the year's most significant blockbusters, comfortably surpassing trade expectations and gaining strong word of mouth across markets. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) At a time when big scale action spectacles are dominating the box office, Yash Raj Films' romantic drama Saiyaara emerged as a surprising standout performer. Featuring two newcomers, Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, in lead roles, the film grossed close to 600 crores worldwide. It also created history by becoming the highest-grossing Indian romantic drama film of all time. Superstar Rajinikanth's highly awaited gangster action drama Coolie finished the year as the fifth-biggest grosser. However, expectations were significantly higher for the film, which was widely seen as Tamil cinema's strongest contender for a 1000-crore finish. Mixed word of mouth impacted its momentum, resulting in a worldwide gross slightly above the 500-crore mark. S.
