Los Angeles, April 27 - Robert Pattinson-fronted DC superhero movie, "The Batman" has been audiences' favorite ever since it debuted in theaters in March this year. It was one of the most anticipated movies of the year and not so surprisingly, it lived up to all the expectations.

Directed by Matt Reeves, "The Batman" was Warner Bros' first exclusive theatrical release during the pandemic after the studio released its entire 2021 slate simultaneously on HBO Max. The movie has had a fruitful outing in theaters and scored $760 million worldwide, including $367 million domestically (North America) and $393 million overseas. It is still playing in select theaters in North America and other countries.

As per Warner Bros' strategy, "The Batman" debuted on HBO Max after 45 days of theatrical release. As expected, it received a thundering response on the streamer and scored 4.1 million views in the first 7 days in North America. More importantly, it remained the only exclusive theatrical movie in the top most-watched movies on HBO Max.

"Mortal Kombat", a martial arts fantasy film based on the video game franchise of the same name and a reboot of the Mortal Kombat film series, remains the most-watched title on HBO Max in the first seven days with 4.3 million views. It was released day and date on HBO and in theaters last year.

Here are Top 5 most-watched movies on HBO Max in the first 7 days -

1. Mortal Combat - 4.3M

2. The Batman - 4.1M

3. Godzilla vs. Kong - 3.9M

4. The Suicide Squad - 3.5M

5. Wonder Woman 1984 - 3.2M

Note* - Apart from "The Batman", all four aforementioned movies have had a day and date release on HBO and in theaters.

Delighted with the blockbuster success of "The Batman", both at the box office and HBO Max, Warner Bros has officially greenlit the sequel to the movie, which will see Robert Pattinson returning as Gotham's fiercest defender/Batman along with director Matt Reeves.

Stay tuned...
