WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Match Card Predictions: Roman Reigns Vs. Kevin Owens?

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, WWE is all set to hold their fourth Royal Rumble in San Antonio and the third at the Alamodome. The whole Royal Rumble storyline circles around the Men's and Women's Royal Rumble matches.

The Rumble matches themselves are the main selling points of the pay-per-view. They will see 30 men and 30 women do battle for the opportunity to headline WrestleMania 39 and challenge for a top title.

Apart from the men's and Women's Royal Rumble matches, the show will feature a prominent match between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Title.

Kevin Owens will challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at the 20223 Royal Rumble PPV. The challenge was laid down during the January 6th 2023 edition of SmackDown, when The Bloodline kicked off the show with a promo. Reigns were too up there and flared up over Sami Zayn’s loss from the previous week but then Kevin Owens interrupted the segment.

Owens challenged Reigns to a title match at the Royal Rumble. Reigns just wants Owens to leave. Owens agreed to go. As he walked away, he told Zayn that he'd see him when he digs his balls out of Roman's pocket. It has now been made official, Kevin Owens will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Royal Rumble 2023.

Bray Wyatt vs LA Knight will be a Pitch Black match at the Royal Rumble.

WWE is all set to do the first-ever Pitch Black Match at the 2023 Royal Rumble on January 28th in San Antonio. It was about a month when WrestlingNewsCo first reported the company’s plan to do a Pitch Black Match.

WWE officially confirmed via a video posted on Twitter that the "Pitch Black Match" will be taking place at the 2023 Royal Rumble event. With Knight attacking Wyatt, Only to be seen in a video hooked up in an unknown location, planted the seeds for a possible "Pitch Black" Match. Now, During the Final SmackDown edition of SmackDown, LA Knight challenged Wyatt to a match at Royal Rumble which was later confirmed to be a Pitch Black Match.

2 out of the 30 entrants have been announced as of December 6, 2022.

The Royal Rumble match generally features 30 wrestlers and the winner traditionally earns a world championship match at that year's WrestleMania. For 2023, the men and women can choose which world championship to challenge for at WrestleMania 39.

At Survivor Series WarGames; Theory defeated Rollins and Lashley in a triple-threat match to win the United States Championship for the second time in his career.

During the November 28th edition of Monday Night Raw, Theory came down to the ring and bragged about his win. He called himself “the unescapable” and said the Austin Theory era started now.

Rollins interrupted and said that Theory hasn’t accomplished anything because he knew that Monday nights still belonged to him. Rollins had one final thing to say to him: “Congratulations, kid.” Theory was mad so Rollins challenged him to a match right now. Theory accepted — on his time. Theory walked away as Rollins chuckled.

The field for the Women's Royal Rumble match is under build. As of writing, no competitor confirmed for the Women's Royal Rumble match, but we do have some predicted participants which would fit for the game.

I feel like, Bayley, Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, Nikki Cross, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Lacey Evans, Tegan Nox, and so on.

As of writing Kofi Kingston is the only superstar to announce his entry for the 2023 Royal Rumble match and more are under process.

According to our prediction, we are picking AJ Styles, Big E, Baron Corbin, Cody Rhodes, Dexter Lumis, Edge, Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, Bray Wyatt, Strowman, Karrion Kross, LA Knight, Ricochet, Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Xavier Woods and so on.

As WrestlingNewsCo also reported earlier in December and we covered as well, WWE is also planning on doing a Hell in a Cell match at the Royal Rumble with Edge facing Finn Balor.

Edge has been out of in-ring action for quite some time now. He last wrestled at Extreme Rules on Cotober 8, where he was defeated by Balor in an "I Quit" Match after interference from The Judgement Day.

After he said "I Quit", Ripley attacked his wife, Beth Phoenix (who also interfered during the match on his behalf), with a violent con-chair-to, severely injuring her (kayfabe) and suffering his first loss in 2022.

The fans have seen this match over the years, so it's safe to accept Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey will clash at least one more time at the Royal Rumble. Flair returned to WWE on the final SmackDown of 2022 and challenged Ronda to an impromptu SmackDown Women's Championship match and ended up winning the title.

Following her title loss, Rousey was nowhere to be seen on SmackDown this week during Flair's championship celebration, but I would guess, Flair's action will not go unanswered by Rousey for long.

So, I am picking Charlotte Flair Vs. Ronda Rousey for the WWE SmackDown Women's Title at Royal Rumble 2023.

I believe the action between Bianca Belair and Alexa Bliss must end at the 2023 Royal Rumble event when Belair puts her title on the line against Alexa Bliss.

On the January 2nd edition of Monday Night Raw, Belair put her Raw Women's Championship on the line in a very tough title showdown against Alexa Bliss, but the match could not land perfectly as Bliss became unhinged and lost control after spotting two different Uncle Howdy faces in the crowd. Moments later, the TitanTron.

The match ended with Bianca Belair retaining the title via DQ. So, I guess this match will take place at this year's Royal Rumble event.
