The 18th edition of Backlash, a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE, is just around the corner. Wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions will be taking part in this highly anticipated event.

Scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023, the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico will be the venue for this thrilling event. This marks the first time that WWE has returned to Puerto Rico since the New Year's Revolution in January 2005, and only the second event in WWE history to be held on this island.



After being titled "WrestleMania Backlash" for the past two years, the 2023 event will revert to its original name while still maintaining its post-WrestleMania concept. WWE Backlash 2023 Confirmed Match Card

Singles Match: Brock Lesnar Vs. Cody Rhodes

WWE Backlash to showcase epic showdown between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. The stage is set for a colossal confrontation as Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar gear up to go head-to-head at WWE Backlash. The much-anticipated match was officially announced on the latest episode of WWE Raw, following a heated altercation between the two titans on stage.

Despite attempts by Adam Pearce to persuade Rhodes from attacking Lesnar, the former TNT Champion charged at him, only to be halted by a battalion of security personnel. Throughout the commotion, Lesnar remained composed and simply chuckled at Rhodes' attempts to assault him.



This clash between two of the biggest stars in WWE was sparked after Lesnar mercilessly ambushed Rhodes on the April 3 episode of WWE Raw. The savage attack, which took place prior to a scheduled tag team match against The Bloodline, saw Lesnar brutally pummel Rhodes with several F-5's, including one through the announce table and another onto a set of steel ring steps.

Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, And Matt Riddle Vs The Bloodline

At WWE Backlash, the long-standing rivalry between The Bloodline and Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle will be reignited.

As per the official announcement from WWE, Owens and Zayn, who are currently holding the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, will unite with Riddle to take on The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and Solo Sikoa from The Bloodline on May 6 at the highly anticipated pay-per-view event.

For several months, Owens and Zayn have been embroiled in a heated feud with The Bloodline, with a particular focus on The Usos. At WWE WrestleMania 39, the duo emerged victorious over Jimmy and Jey to capture the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. In an attack orchestrated by The Bloodline, Sikoa took out Riddle, and the "Original Bro" has joined forces with Owens and Zayn since making his return on the April 3 episode of WWE Raw.

In a singles match on the April 14 episode of WWE SmackDown, Sikoa defeated Riddle. However, Owens and Zayn are scheduled to defend their titles against The Usos on the April 28 episode of WWE SmackDown. The trio of Owens, Zayn, and Riddle will have their chance at redemption when they face The Usos and Sikoa at WWE Backlash on May 6.

SmackDown Women's Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega is resolute in her determination to pay homage to her Puerto Rican ancestry by competing against Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women's Championship in Puerto Rico at WWE Backlash.

Ever since joining The Judgment Day, Rhea Ripley has elevated her game to unprecedented heights. She outlasted 29 other Superstars to emerge victorious in the 2023 Royal Rumble Match and then defeated Charlotte Flair in an already legendary title fight at WrestleMania, claiming the SmackDown Women's Championship. The Eradicator now stands atop the mountain, daring anyone to challenge her.

Enter the tenacious Zelina Vega. In the midst of the intense feud between Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik, the WWE Hall of Famer assembled Legado del Fantasma to form a new iteration of The LWO to have his back. Undoubtedly fueled in part by the confidence that Mysterio had in her and her compatriots, the high-flying Vega approached WWE Official Adam Pearce and expressed her intention to vie for the SmackDown Women's Championship against the new titleholder, Rhea Ripley, at WWE Backlash.

United States Champion Austin Theory vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed

At WWE Backlash, a fierce and unbridled battle will take place as Bobby Lashley and Bronson Reed vie for the United States Championship against the reigning champion Austin Theory.

On the grandest stage of them all, Theory achieved a defining moment in his career when he successfully defended the star-spangled title against the legendary John Cena at WrestleMania.
