Vijay's Jana Nayagan Postponed After Censor Certificate Delay
Chennai, January 7 - Thalapathy Vijay's much-awaited Jana Nayagan has officially been postponed after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) failed to issue the censor certificate ahead of its scheduled January 9 release. The new date is not announced yet.
With no clearance in sight, the makers approached the Madras High Court seeking an urgent hearing to resolve the issue. After hearing arguments, the High Court reserved its order and stated that the verdict will be pronounced in the morning on January 9.
Since a film cannot be released theatrically without censor approval, this development makes the planned release date unviable. The uncertainty has already impacted advance bookings, particularly in Tamil Nadu, and an official postponement announcement is expected to be made shortly.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is Vijay's last film before his full-time political entry. The movie has been carrying huge buzz among the fans and trade alike, and despite the last-minute hurdle, the buzz is only expected to intensify.
