Vijay Sethupathi To Star In Legendary Sri Lankan Cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran's Biopic

The well-known South Indian actor, Vijay Sethupati is all set to act in the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran's biopic, tentatively titled '800' which is said to signify the number of wickets taken by the spinner during his illustrious career.

The film will be produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Dar Motion Pictures featuring Vijay Sethupathi as the Sri Lankan spin legend. The Biopic will be directed by MS Sripathi, who had previously directed a film titled Kanimozhi.

"I don't even watch cricket, I feel bored. So I don't even watch cricket since my childhood. In fact, I even told this to Muttiah Muralitharan sir and he immediately told that is the perfect quality for me to play the role", Vijay Sethupathi said had said in an interview.

Muthiah Muralidaran is the leading wicket-taker in Test as well as One-day cricket. During his 19 years of international career, Muralitharan played 133 tests and claimed 800 wickets. While in ODI cricket, the spin magician grabbed 534 wickets in 350 matches.

Muralidaran was also a part of the Sri Lankan team that played the ODI world cup finals in 2007 and 2011. Now, a biopic on him is surely a well-deserved tribute to him.
