Theatrical Runtime And Censorship Details Of Sankranthi/Pongal 2023 Releases Revealed

Chennai, January 3 - A blockbuster Sankranthi/Pongal awaits the fans as superstars of Tamil and Telugu cinema will be up against each other at the box office to grab the attention of the moviegoers with their respective films.

One of the biggest films of the year and possibly the biggest release this festival, Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu/Vaarasudu is super hot among fans and is going to be the perfect treat for family audiences.



Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, "Varisu" completes the censorship formalities today and it has been certified with a clean "U" certificate with a run time of 169 minutes (2 hours 49 minutes). Produced by Dil Raju, the movie is confirmed to hit theaters on January 12 in Tamil and Telugu languages.

Another big Tamil tentpole on Pongal is Ajith Kumar's action thriller Thunivu is making big noise. The movie is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor. The makers completed the censorship of the film yesterday and it got a "U/A" certificate with theatrical runtime of 146 minutes (2 hours 26 minutes). It will be hitting theaters on January 11 in Tamil and Telugu.

Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja's much-awaited action drama film Waltair Veerayya was censored recently and it got a "U/A" certificate with theatrical runtime of 155 minutes (2 hours 35 minutes). Directed by Bobby and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is scheduled to hit screens on January 13 in Telugu and Hindi.



Mythri Movie Makers has another biggie to release this season and that is Nandamuri Balakrishna's action entertainer Veera Simha Reddy. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the movie is yet to be censored but the reports say is 160 minutes (2 hours 40 minutes) long.

There are a couple of films more to release on Sankranthi and they will be sent for censorship in the next couple of days.
