The Producers Of Ajay Devgn Starrer 'Maidaan' Burst Rumours Of Direct-to-digital Release

Mumbai, May 20, 2021: After the hybrid release of Salman Khan starrer Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, a few of the entertainment websites reported that Ajay Devgn starrer sports drama film, Maidaan is also in talks with Zee Studio for the direct-to-digital release via pay-per-view model. However, all the reports turned out to be just a rumor as producers of the film have issued a statement on the same.

Bollywood trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, on Thursday, shared an official statement from the producers of Maidaan on social media. The statement from producers read, "We would like to share that there is currently no conversation with any streaming platform for pay-per-view release of #Maidaan".



Further in the statement, they said that they are presently focused on finishing the shoot of the film. "Our focus, at present, is to complete the film keeping everyone's safety in mind and in full compliance with protocols laid down by the government", the statement read.

Maidaan is a biographical sports film based on the golden era of Indian football (1952–62) and starring Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. It is directed by Amit Sharma and produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP.

Apart from Ajay Devgn, the movie also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh in key roles. It is scheduled for worldwide release in theatres on 15 October 2021, coinciding with Dussehra weekend.
