'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Registers A Mammoth Opening Weekend At The Indian BO

Mumbai, December 19 - "Spider-Man: No Way Home" webs the Indian box office. The superhero film along with Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rise" brings the audiences back to theaters like never before during the covid-19 pandemic. Spider-Man particularly having a wild run at the box office.

Directed by Jon Watts, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" opened to a mighty Rs. 41.50 crores gross on Thursday (December 16), the 3rd biggest in India in 2021. It was all about holding well on Friday and then picking up again on Saturday. The Marvel/Sony pic not only held well on Friday with Rs. 25.87 crores gross (-37.65%), but also managed to witness a jump of 28.13% on Saturday for Rs. 33.14 crores.



The 3rd MCU Spider-Man film featuring Tom Holland, despite the competition with "Pushpa - The Rise", especially in the South region, continued its historic run and finished the opening weekend at the Indian box office with flying colors. On Sunday, the film grossed an estimated Rs. 38.10 crores, closing the 4-day weekend for a mammoth Rs. 138.10 crores.

The Indian theaters are rejoicing after a long time. The film industry, especially Bollywood, needed someone to bell it out from the devastating covid-19 pandemic, and things are started happening for Bollywood, thanks to the recent blockbuster "Sooryavanshi" and now, "Spider-Man: No Way Home". Even Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rise", which marks the actor's debut Pan-India outing, is having fun in the Hindi market, netting an estimated Rs. 14 crores in the first 3 days (Fri-Sun) despite the limited showcasing due to "No Way Home".

Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is very well on track to become the first a billion worldwide grosser of the pandemic era. In the first four days at the WW BO, "No Way Home" grossed over $300 million, including $121.5M in the domestic market (Thursday previews+Friday), registering the second-biggest opening day of all-time at the domestic box office. It is currently heading for a thundering $240M opening weekend in North America and $500M worldwide.
