Shah Rukh Khan And Kajol's Bronze Statue To Be Unveiled At London's Leicester Square To Mark 25th Anniversary Of DDLJ

Aditya Chopra's directorial debut, and an all-time blockbuster movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge will be marking 25 glorious years of its release on October 20. The film which released in 1995 is the longest-running Indian film in theatres. This Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer is considered a cult classic which left a distinct impression on the hearts of the viewers.
When the film completed its 20 years of release, SRK and Kajol hosted an event to celebrate this film at Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai where the film has been running for more than two decades.
Now, as DDLJ is completing 25 years, a bronze statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is set to be unveiled in London to celebrate the silver jubilee of the film. The statue will be put to display at Leicester Square as a part of 'Scenes in the Square' movie trail.
Talking about the statue, Mark Williams, the destination marketing director of Heart of London Business Alliance told MidDay, "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of the most successful Hindi films of all time, and this statue is a fitting tribute to the global popularity of Bollywood".
The film won several accolades and was one of three Hindi films in the film reference book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. The movie also won National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 43rd National Film Awards.
Apart from Shah Rukh and Kajol, DDLJ also starred late Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Himani Shivpuri, Satish Shah, Mandira Bedi, Parmeet Sethi, late Achala Sachdev, Karan Johar, Anaita Shroff Adajania, and Arjun Sablok in pivotal roles.
