Ranbir Kapoor - The Next Big Thing? (A Lineup Analysis)

Mumbai, February 14 - Bollywood youth star Ranbir Kapoor is one of those stars who have the most exciting lineups. He was last seen in Raj Kumar Hirani's directorial Sanju in 2018 which became the highest-grossing movie of that year. Now he is ready to make a big comeback with the period drama SHAMSHERA. This movie will release on 22 July this year. Apart from SHAMSHERA Ranbir will be seen as the main lead in the much-awaited Dharma productions fantasy action movie BRAHMASTRA part 1 .

Trade experts have very high hopes for this biggie. This is one of the most expensive projects of Bollywood in the making for the last 8 years. It faced many hurdles like VFX delay and of course the coronavirus pandemic which resulted in the delay. Ayan Mukerji the director has dedicated and sacrificed many things for this venture hoping to set new standards in Bollywood cinema.



Other than Shamshera and Brahmastra Ranbir has movies like Animal and Luv Ranjan's next rom-com in his kitty. Ranbir is potentially one among many who can challenge khan's supremacy in Bollywood. The khans have been ruling the industry since the '90s and by the end of this decade the new superstars may take over.

Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is the front runner along with Ranveer Singh to get the no 1 Star tag towards the end of this decade. It is generally the openings that indicate the pull the star has on the box office. That's the reason why Salman Khan is currently no 1, his average movie takes a huge opening. Now with a solid lineup of upcoming movies, Ranbir Kapoor too can consolidate his fan base and potentially take huge openings too afterward. If all these movies meet expectations Ranbir can end up challenging Salman Khan for the No1 spot.

Salman khan movies will mainly come next year. Ranbir Kapoor has a good fan following among the youngsters especially among girls - the main negative thing being that he is still labeled as a newcomer even though he has been in the industry for 15 long years.
