Paramount Pictures India Confirms Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun: Maverick' Release Date In India

Mumbai, March 29 - Tom Cruise is set to return to the big screen with an upcoming action drama film, "Top Gun: Maverick", for the first time since "Mission: Impossible – Fallout" in 2018. The high-octane action thriller, directed by Joseph Kosinski, is the sequel to Cruise's "Top Gun" (1986).

On Tuesday (March 29), Paramount Pictures released the trailer of this highly-awaited film and also confirmed the release date. Meanwhile, the studio also confirmed that the movie will be released in Indian cinemas on May 27 with the domestic release, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

"Top Gun: Maverick" stars Tom Cruise in the title role, and Val Kilmer reprising their roles from the original movie, with the addition of the new cast including Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris in prominent roles.

In the film, Test pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell has purposely dodged an advancement in rank after thirty years of service. He is put in charge of training a group of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission. Among them is Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of Maverick's late best friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick "Goose" Bradshaw.



The movie was originally announced for release in July 2019 but was postponed to "allow the production to work out all the complex flight sequences". The COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts further delayed the movie and now, it finally hitting theaters this summer.
