PVR-Inox Sues Maddock Films For Cancelling Theatrical Release of 'Bhool Chuk Maaf'
Mumbai, May 10 - National multiplex theatre chain, PVRINOX, has reportedly sued producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films for cancelling the theatrical release date of its romantic comedy drama Bhool Chuk Maaf at the last minute.
A day before the film's release on May 9, Maddock Films and Amazon Prime issued a statement stating that the theatrical release of Bhool Chuk Maaf was called off aftermath of the ongoing border conflict between India and Pakistan. The studio announced that the movie would now be released directly on Prime Video on May 9.
According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, PVR Inox has decided to take legal action against the production house for damages of Rs. 60 crores for non-playability of the movie. While Maddock stated the conflict as the reason behind the decision, the theatre alleged that the decision was taken due to poor advance booking.
"PVR has submitted their case in the Bombay High Court. The matter became serious as all the contracts were signed, and then suddenly Maddock backed off. Hence, this is a case of breach of contract", says the report quoting a source.
Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf stars Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles. It is produced by Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios.
