One particular rumored matchup has been the talk of the town—Roman Reigns versus The Rock. However, recent reports from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter seem to quash the notion of this epic clash occurring in Australia.

Despite earlier chatter suggesting a Reigns vs. Rock showdown at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, Meltzer dismisses these rumors, stating that Reigns is not on the event's schedule, and there are currently no plans to include him. The Elimination Chamber is set to unfold at Optus Stadium on Saturday, February 24.



Meltzer's insights into the ongoing speculation around the Reigns vs. Rock match indicate that while WrestleMania remains the presumed destination for this clash, a potential three-way with Cody Rhodes might not be ruled out until much later. However, the crucial revelation from the report is the dismissal of Australia as the battleground for this highly anticipated encounter.

The Rock's surprise return to WWE on the Day 1 edition of Raw added fuel to the speculative fire. During his appearance, The Rock hinted at a desire to face Roman Reigns and stake his claim at the Head of the Table, injecting a new layer of intrigue into the ongoing storyline.

Responding to The Rock's comments, Paul Heyman, Reigns' advocate, cut a promo on SmackDown last week, emphasizing that The Rock hasn't been invited to the table and won't be. This exchange follows a planned Reigns vs. Rock match for WrestleMania 39 last year, which ultimately did not materialize. Instead, Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes.



Speaking to Sports Illustrated earlier this week, Rhodes expressed unwavering determination in his goal to headline WrestleMania 40 against Reigns, despite the returns of The Rock and CM Punk.

“The Rock is The Great One–he’s still electrifying,” Rhodes acknowledged. “CM Punk is one of the greatest stars in the history of wrestling. I know what I’m up against. Look at the roster–it’s loaded with stars. But that doesn’t bother me. I’m not flinching. I’m not rooting against anyone else; I’m just working to make it happen.”

WrestleMania 40 is slated to take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7. Reigns is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the upcoming Royal Rumble against Randy Orton, LA Knight, and AJ Styles in a fatal four-way match.
