Mammootty's 'Bramayugam' Among Letterboxd's Top 10 Horror Movies of 2024 Worldwide

Mumbai, October 2 - The year 2024 has been super successful for the Malayalam cinema, and one of the standout films to come out from the Mollywood industry has been megastar Mammootty's period folk horror Bramayugam.

Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam received extremely positive reviews from critics upon its release in February this year. It is now ranked as one of the best horror movies of 2024 (so far) by Letterboxd, an online social cataloging service for films.



According to the average Letterboxd member rating, Bramayugam is the second-best horror movie of 2024, behind The Substance, an international co-production between the United Kingdom, the United States and France (as of October 1st).

Bramayugam is the only Indian horror movie of the year to feature in the Letterboxd's top 10 movies. The average rating of the movie is 3.8 out of 5 from 18,788 ratings on the platform.

Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap wrote on Letterboxd while reviewing the movie, "I am just so jealous of Malayalam filmmakers... the courage, the audacity and the amazing discerning audience of Kerala that empowers the filmmaking... I am so insanely jealous... and Mammooty... what has he done... next on the list is Kathal".

Produced by Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios, the film was released on 15 February 2024 in black-and-white format and stars Mammootty, Arjun Ashokan, and Sidharth Bharathan in key roles. Bramayugam grossed approximately 58 crores at the worldwide box office.
