Former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for most career wickets in test cricket as he took 800 wickets in 133 matches with an average of 22.72. Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne is second on the list as he took 708 wickets in 145 games with an average of 25.41.
