Jeethu Joseph To Direct Venkatesh In Telugu Remake Of Malayalam Film 'Drishyam 2'

Mohanlal starrer Malayalam movie, Drishyam 2 premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 19 and it is getting brilliant reviews from the viewers. The Telugu remake of this suspense thriller is already in work with Jeethu Joseph returning to helm the much-anticipated remake with Telugu superstar Venkatesh.
Released in 2014, the Telugu remake of Drishyam, titled Drushyam was directed by Sripriya, but this time, the sequel will be directed by Jeethu himself who shot to national fame with Mohanlal starrer. Venkatesh, who starred in Drushyam, will carry forward his role in the sequel.
Jeethu Joseph announced the sequel of the Telugu remake. He also confirmed that the shooting will begin next month in March and will be wrapped up as soon as possible. It has been reported that Jeethu has already landed in Hyderabad and had been in talks with multiple people involved in the project.
Talking about Drushyam, the film tells the story of Rambabu (Venkatesh), a middle-class cable TV operator, and his family. They come under suspicion when Varun, the son of the Inspector-general of police (IG), goes missing soon after harassing Rambabu's daughter. The rest of the film reveals how Varun disappeared and what Rambabu does to keep his family from going to prison.
Drushyam had Meena and Esther Anil from the original cast of Drishyam. Nadhiya played the role of the police officer whose son is murdered by Rambabu's daughter.
Mohanlal's Drishyam has been remade in several languages including Hindi, Sinhalese, and Mandarin. Nishikant Kamat directed the Hindi remake and it starred Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta. Drishyam is also the first Indian film to have a remake in Chinese, titled Sheep Without a Shepherd (2019).
