Jawan Advance Booking Nears 40 Crores Worldwide; Set For Biggest Bollywood Opening Ever

Mumbai, September 5 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to re-write Bollywood box office history with his upcoming action thriller Jawan. Directed by Atlee Kumar, the movie is having an excellent response in the pre-sales, not just in India but in international markets as well.

The movie, slated to release on September 7, is nearing 40 crores gross advance collection globally. In India, it has crossed 25 crores gross with approximately 910K tickets sold, as of 8 PM on September 5 for the opening day. The original Hindi-language is leading the pre-sales with approximately 23.75 crores gross with 815K tickets while Tamil version has generated 88 lakh with 57.4K tickets and Telugu version has grossed 46 lakh with 35.2K tickets so far.



In three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), "Jawan" has sold 340K tickets as of 6:15 PM on September 5. PVR and INOX have sold 280K tickets while Cinepolis has sold 60K tickets. At the time of writing this, the movie has crossed "Thugs of Hindostan's" 346K national chains tickets sold for the opening day. "Jawan" is likely to beat "Pathaan" (556K tickets) to score the highest-ever pre-sales for the opening day for a Bollywood movie.

Meanwhile, the advance booking response in the international markets for the movie is also sensational as it has so far sold tickets worth $1.56 million (13 crores), according to Pinkvilla. North America is leading the international pre-sales with $600K so far, followed by GCC with $450K, and the UK with $225K. The overall overseas advance booking of the movie is expected to be around $3 million for the opening day and around 60 crores worldwide.

"Jawan" is likely to emerge the biggest outright Bollywood opener of all-time at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. The movie is projected to score 125+ crores worldwide on the opening day, which will beat the current record holder "Pathaan" (105 crores) which is the only Bollywood movie to date to take 100+ crores opening.
