James Gunn Hypes Up the Extended Runtime of 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3'

Los Angeles, March 27 - Marvel Studios' next blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 from director James Gunn is getting ready to release on May 5 this year. The superhero flick will be the longest film in the franchise with reported runtime of around 2 hours and 29 minutes.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is set to end the team's run in the MCU on a highly emotional note, giving fans the last story ever with this iteration of the intergalactic team of misfits. It might also be the last MCU film for James Gunn since he is now the co-head of DC Studio and is already working towards DC Films.



Meanwhile, the longer runtime of GoTG3 has come as a surprise to many, however, Gunn revealed that it was necessary and promised that it will be worth it. The filmmaker took to Twitter to share about the extended runtime and respond to a user who asked if the movie is actually 2 hours and 29 minutes.

"It's around that long, although that's not yet exact. And, I promise, not a second is wasted. There's no fat. It was necessary to experience the full arc for every major Guardians character, not only for this film, but for the trilogy (or, I should say, trilogy plus)", he said.

The movie stars an ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, Elizabeth Debicki, Maria Bakalova, and Sylvester Stallone. In the film, the Guardians embark on a mission to protect Rocket (Cooper).
