Golden Globes Winner And Oscar-Nominated 'Nomadland' To Release In India On April 2

The 2020's American Neo-western drama film, "Nomadland" is all set to release in India on April 2nd, 2021. The Chloe Zhao directorial is nominated in six categories at the Oscar Awards 2021 including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. It has won the Best Picture and Best Director awards at the recently announced Golden Globes Awards 2021.

The film is based on the 2017 non-fiction book "Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century" by an American journalist, Jessica Bruder. It stars Frances McDormand as a woman who leaves home to travel around the American West.

According to director Chloe Zhao (reported by News 18), the quintessentially American film is set on the road and populated by individuals "who are part of the pioneer culture", though the themes of the story are relevant in any part of the world.

The 38-year-old Zhao feels the film is about compassion, connection, and adventure and is also a resonant story for the challenging times we are currently navigating.



"The story looks at the question — When you lose everything that defines who you are, can you find yourself again?" Zhao tells IANS according to News 18. "It is about all those things that unite us as people; it's about friendship and love", she concludes.

Nomadland will be released by Searchlight Pictures in India.
