Los Angeles, November 13 - Disney announced a number of new animated and live-action shows, which will be released in the next year on Disney+. Among the highly-anticipated shows, the studio released the first looks at three of Marvel Studios' upcoming shows that include "Moon Knight", "She-Hulk", and "Ms. Marvel".
Apart from giving the first looks at the aforementioned shows, Disney/Marvel also released an extended action sequence from its next Disney Plus series, "Hawkeye", which is set to debut on the streamer on Nov. 24. The first looks at the Disney+ show released as part of the company's Disney Plus Day celebrations meant to commemorate the second anniversary of the streamer’s launch in 2019.
Here's what Marvel/Disney presented -
Moon Knight -
In "Moon Knight" Oscar Isaac plays Marc Spector, who in the comics has dissociative identity disorder and believes himself to be the human avatar of the Egyptian god Khonshu. In the first look teaser, Isaac dons a white, caped costume, ripped from the pages of Moon Knight comics, as he brutally punches a victim on the ground in a dark hallway, illuminated by flickering lights. In a very Batman-esque shot, he jumps across buildings, silhouetted by the glowing crescent moon.
Apart from Oscar Isaac, "Moon Knight" also features Hawke, who is playing a character inspired by cult leader David Koresh, and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead are directing the series, and Jeremy Slater is the head writer.
Ms. Marvel -
In "Ms. Marvel", Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, a Muslim, Pakistani-American who idolizes Captain Marvel. The first look teaser of this much-awaited series shows how Kamala Khan gets superpower to save the world. It also underscores that Kamala is the first Muslim superhero by cutting from a shot of people in a mosque in prayer to a shot of Kamala standing in a mirror wearing her Captain Marvel cosplay.
Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the series also stars Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur as Kamala's parents Muneeba and Yusuf, as well as Aramis Knight, Rish Shah, Saagar Shaikh, and Matt Lintz. The show is created by Bisha K. Ali and it will debut on Disney+ in Q4 in 2022.
She-Hulk -
In "She-Hulk", Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who (at least in the comics) inherits similar Hulk powers after she receives a blood transfusion from her green-skinned cousin Bruce Banner. In the first look teaser, Marvel fans can see a glimpse of She-Hulk's green skin and white-and-purple costume, accurate to the comic-book look. Ruffalo too looks super-smart in his "Professor Hulk" persona from "Avengers: Endgame" to teach his cousin how to control her transformations.
Apart from Maslany and Ruffalo, "She-Hulk" also stars Jameela Jamil, who reportedly plays the super-strong villain Titania along with Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, and Tim Roth, who will reprise his role as the Abomination. Executive producer Kat Coiro and Anu Valia direct the series, and Jessica Gao is the head writer.
